I have a 94 ranger and am trying to fix the 4x4. i have so far replaced the auto hubs to warn manuel, replaced the shift motor and the dash switch. I am kinda tried of messing with it. It still dont work. Is there a kit to make it a manuel system??? No buttons, motors or modules, i would much rather deal with that. The only thing i have not changed is the module but its 300 bucks. I can hear the shift motor work but nothing. What can i do???

There are plenty of Manuels down in Texas, Arizona and southern California.

Ok i just checked that thing shifter out and cant believe someone hasnt figured out a way better then that for manuel 4x4. But as a machinist i guess i am on a mission now. Does anyone know of something better? Or do i have to build one???

Well you could just swap a manual transfer case in?

i want to do this also.. tired of waiting for my shifter motor to crap out a manual shift transfer is WAY better in my opinion. now does a manual just bolt on and cut a hole in the floor pan for the shifter and thats it??

Almost any 13-50 manual case will be a direct swap.
The only exception is the 13-50 STX case from an 87-89 STX Ranger. It is a 13-50, but it uses a different front driveshaft. It can be distinguished by the fixed yoke on the front output, instead of a slip joint.
IIRC 90 was the first year of the 13-54. It will work, but you will need a different front driveshaft. (and they are harder to find in manual version.)
The 1st gen explorer uses a 13-54, not a 13-50.

I dont personally know, so I did a quick search and came up with this info.

so basicly i need to find a better way or suck it up and get under there and change it

a while ago I saw a piece that aluminum piece that bolted on to the tcase where the shift motor is and had a cord that mounted in the cab of and had a lever. All I can remember it was expensive at somewhere around 300 bucks.

yeah, i found it on explorer forum and posted it over here, since then...the website has been deleted and the product is NO where to be found. i was hoping to copy it for mine... but.... yeah, i didn't save any pics or anything.

it was $299 plus $40 shipping. :shok:
junk yard 1354M would be cheaper. :icon_thumby:
