ok so i had a sony xplod 600w amp running my 2 pioneer 10'' subs. well i was offered an audibahn 12'' sub and an alpine 800w amp. well i went and built the box. spent 60$ on that. went to hook it all up, and no matter how i hooked up the speakers, the amp went into protect mode. so i turned the gains all the way down, tried the lp, hp and off settings. tried the 0 hz, 15 hz and 30 hz settings. finally got it to stay on, and as soon as i touched the gains, it shut off.

so i figured the amp was being over drawn, so just to see, i tried it on my pioneer subs. it was fine. ok

now i wanted to try the audiobahn sub on the xlod amp, no go, so i went back to my orginal setup up, xplod amp and pioneer subs. now with everything setup the way i had it, now the sony is going into protect mode. when i got it to stay on, it would just whine, or buzz. but when i turned the music up, it was ok. untill i started the engine. it sounds like its picking up the alternator whine, but the rca's and power wire are no where near eachother. so i think the audiobahn screwed both my amps.

this is for alpine :flipoff: and this is for audiobahn :flipoff:

i will never ever buy either of these pieces of crap again. and will remain a pioneer man.

weird, my bro has an audiobahn 12" sub and works amazing, that thing is so loud, makes the whole truck vibrate, he has like 5years taking the crap out of it, he has a BOSS amp, with only 600W and the sub is 800W, twin coil, he only has been using 1, and works great, did u got em used or new? thats why i stopped buying used stuff, threw away 2 amps and 1 sub doing that...
maybe the sub is blown

everything was new. the alpine amp was used. but the kid never turned the bass up.

wow thats weird, maybe factory defects on the audio bahn? or maybe putting that load on your amps damaged them...

i dunno, im gonna try it out tomorrow. if it dont work. everything is up for sale. including the box i made

personally i dont like the alpine amps either, had a similar problem before,i switched to fosgate and fell in love lol. sounds like there is a problem with the electrical, what gauge wire u runnin?

6 gauge wiring. its not the wiring. ive been running my other system for 5 months now. never had any problems. it was when i switched everything over it became a problem.

i think im gonna just get some kicker components and a kicker amp and call it a day.

Well you said that the Pioneer sub worked when hooked up to the Alpine amp, so what are you cussing about them for? It's probably the Audiobahn that's the messed up one, since it screwed with your Xplod amp too.
Then again...
Check your hookups on your sub box just in case, since that is something else new. Maybe there's a short at the terminals. I would guess bad wiring before bad components.

who said i was cussing. i havent said one cuss word on this entire forum.

anyway, the alpine amp is screwed too. i tried it in another car and it wont work. i cant get it to stop going into protect mode. heck i unplugged the speaker terminals on both amps and just tried to let them power on and it just goes into protect mode. on both cars. and its not the wiring,

DISCLAIMER

both amps worked with my pioneer subs. all i have changed is the subs, no wiring of the amps, nothing, and when i would wire up the subs, both my amps would shut off. so i said screw it, after different speaker wiring, i just put my pioneer subs back in. and now both my amps wont work. i am selling off all my subs and the boxes. thank you

I don't think he meant you were using cuss words. I think what he meant was whining not cussing. Not saying I think you are whining about anything, just letting you know my take on what he meant. On another, I will take an amp off your hands. lol.

I just meant your general dislike towards them (Curse you, you junky subwoofer! Arrgh!)
That Audiobahn/box had to have killed the amps. Doesn't matter what you hook the amps to after that, since the damage was already done.

ill sell ya both if ya want em. i dont need em. im gonna try one more setup and see how it does.

Get a kicker cvt and a pioneer amp. I love the kicker sound and the pioneer performance. I, my self, am a pioneer man. Head unit, mids, tweets, and amp are all pioneer.

You cant get into a fit of rage and just sell the box. I bet you worked hard on that box. Maybe there is just some reason that the amp is in protect, and you might find a solution. Just do some research on some other forums pertaining to your amps and see if other people have had a similar issue, and there might be a fix!

UPDATE

Ok, so i have another car setup with a system in it. So i figured, why dont i just try everything out in there one more time just to see. To my amazment, EVERYTHING WORKED!!!!! I didnt try the audiobahn subs, but both my amps worked, and my pioneer subs worked fine. I guess maybe i have a short somewhere. Weird that it happened all of a sudden. But who cares. everything works:yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

A5 freak. I did work hard on the box, but i didnt like the sub, or how big the box was. Plus im brok and i need money so im gonna sell everything.

I plan on running 4-kicker 6 1/2 componenets with a pioneer hu, and a kicker 400w amp running it all. That should be plenty for me. plus the subs took up too much space in my truck.

Thanks everyone for the help.

I was kind of kidding, but might be interested anyways. Haha! I don't have any system in my truck right now but would like a small system that I could put together for real cheap. How much are you thinking for one of them? Whichever would be cheapest. Haha!
