Anyone who has a 1991-1997 Ford Ranger probably has a cracked gas filler neck. They split at the base near the tank. A dead giveaway is the embarassing leak upon filling up at the Kwiki-Mart. Every one I've seen in the JY is this way. so I ordered one from autoandart.com yesterday. I paid $30 plus $ 5 shipping. My concern is will it fit a stepside? No! they are completely different hoses! The filler neck part number for 1991-1997 fleetside Rangers is 9034R. Somebody correct me here if I'm wrong. The filler neck part number for 1993-1997 Stepside rangers is 9034RA. I know this for a fact. I was unable to find the correct part. I finally looked at the hose and found the part number painted on the hose (yours will be painted on if it's the original!) Here's how you can make a fleetside hose work on a stepside:
The stepside bed probably ways about 150 pounds(anyone know for sure?). It is very light. I found the lip at the front of the bed to be suitable for lifting. Hint! slightly screw in the two long bed bolts in the rear part of the bed before lifting. This keeps it from sliding off. I removed the tailgate and bumper for security. When swapping in the new filler neck be sure to reuse the original hose clamps. Why not clean the under carriage while you got the bed off? Enjoy filling up at the gas station and God bless you!
