Are You Scared Of Heights?

I am not really afraid of heights....I just have a problem with ladders....I can climb up them with no probs, walk around on roofs all day, but when it comes time to climb back down....scares the crap outta me.

X2 to the tee. I've got no problem with heights at all but I do not dig ladders. I used rock climb a lot and being 250-300' off the deck was common, we also rappelled off of some bridge trestles that were about 180-200', so heights don't really phase me.

My cousin builds those towers, he doesn't always get the benefit of the elevator for the first 1600' and has routinely had to climb 1500' by hand-it takes several hours... I've really gotta get him to take me to work for a day so I can experience some of those heights...

That's me too. One thing I noticed in the video was something my father taught me a long, long time ago. ALWAYS hold onto the rungs of the ladder, not the sides. If your feet slip, you've got something that can stop you in your hands. Sides mean slides.

That was insane!!!! I have a love hate relationship with heights. If I'm secure and all I don't mind them, now if I'm trying to go back down from any height scares all the living life right outta me. I cant/wont even think about the climb down from one of those towers.

I would wear a parachute to work every day and base jump off the top to get back down if it wern't for the support lines. No way could they pay me enough to go up one of those.

i thought the same thing but where would that large 30lb bag of tools be secured that would be safe enough to witstand the jolt of a parachute opening :dunno:
