Are the tailgate cables different lengths?

I did a search on this but found nowt...he tailgate cables both snapped a while ago & I finally got around to replacing them. Went to Canadian Tire & bought 2 cables but when I put them on all the weight hangs on the left side. When I look at some of the parts sites they talk about driver side/passenger side tailgate cables so I'm assuming they are slightly different lengths? What a PITA

They are (better be) the same length. Different orientation of the ends.

If they are different lengths, the tailgate would bend under weight and tweak the whole bed. Take them back and get replacements and compare the length. Make sure you have two the same length. Sometimes they are mis-boxed during packaging.

One of mine was snapped when i bought the truck so i replaced it but found that is was very slightly shorter than the other one due to the 10 years of use and what not the other unbroken cable had seen. that might account for some of it, but my tailgate is still flat... it was only enough that i can tell one has more tension than the other but thats about it.

one of mine was longer than the other aswell, but the longer one broke so now I only have one, but it's enough to hold the tailgate up I guess, haha

Got one of mine from the JY off a mazda and its just a liiiiiittle shorter. I always wondered if the mazda vs the ranger were just a little different.
