If I were to get a B2200, would it be a bad idea to lift it a little, with slightly larger tires? Or would that be too much for the little 4 banger? Are the little 2.2L's reliable engines?

I have a B2300 with a 3 inch body lift and 31s. Haven't had any problems yet...Waiting for my Skyjacker kit to get here too.

i wheel my lil 2.3L 4 cyl. engine an it does just fine with 31 inch tires...hurts the gas mileage a bit an it dont burn tires on pavement but that just costs u money...but it pulls an is a great lil offroad truck with the 31s, n the body lift helps the flex so the tires dont rub cuz stock mazdas have good flex..hope this helps

As long as you gear it right, you can go anywhere with a 4 banger.

Remember the B2200 was before they were based on the Ranger. Horsepower was somewhere around 85-90hp I believe. The B2600 only had around 120hp

I hear of a lot of guys with 4 bangers off-roading. obviously not as much fun as a 4.0L, but does the job just fine. ur gas bill is probably a lot less than mine too lol

35's

:icon_hornsup:Shit I roll 35s on mine its a gas hog but looks sick as hell.

35s could fit with fender trimming zero lift :P

To fit 35's, your going to need to do what is called a double lift. Slap on a 3 inch body lift, check performance accessories, and then install a 4 inch suspension lift. Another option is pre-runner fenders. Google 'em and have a look, they make for massive tire clearance on stock suspension. Also, depending if you are coil or torsion bar supsension, there are cheap ways to get a little lift out of the front on both. Good luck, and have fun.
