When are drop shocks needed?

I'm aimed for a 3/3 drop or 4/5 drop. I know shocks are required for a 4/5 drop or else itll be a shitty ride. But are shocks needed for a 3/3

Help will be appreciate, Thanks.

You don't HAVE to do drop shocks with either one, but it will ride much better with them. Doestch Nitro slammers have worked great for me, and seem to be the most recommended.

Thanks for an answer. I'm definitely going to go with shocks then. I want the best quality ride I can get.

stmitch your ranger is beautiful

I dropped mine without them and I will say, I can't WAIT to get the drop shocks. The ride is very bouncy, that's for sure. Spend the extra money and get the drop shocks if you want a comfortable ride.

Yea the stock rears will eventually blow out due to being compressed so much all the time.

I gotta get my ibeams finished up to see what the 3/4 drop looks like with some 17'" wheels with 45's.

The issue I see is that the drop beams locate the spindles higher and the tires are gonna rub before the bumpstop does it's job. So.. I'll have to see what travel I have left before going a further drop front/rear.'

I'd like to go 2" more in the front and put a 2" block in the rear... but by the looks of it, that leaves me very little rear supspension travel.

Not only that, the stock tranny crossmember must go... and some radius remounts I see are sold by illusive may be in order.

Gotta love the lowriders. Hours and hours of work, hundreds of bucks... and you bolt it all up and go "ooOOooo 2 inches!!"

LOL fun times. I wish I had my Mazda still. So easy and so cheap to go super low. Too bad they stopped making those old B2000 or B2200's. IMHO they made way nicer looking slammed trucks.

if you drop it.. you need physically short shocks, period.
if you lift it.. you need physically longer shocks. Stands to reason...

if you don't, you might be bottoming them out and blow them out from over compression and stuff.

But slammedxonair said above that with dropped control arms the shock is the same.:icon_confused::icon_confused:

I may be wrong... But every vehicle I've ever dropped, the stock shocks were to long for the ideal length needed.

If you shorten the space between the upper and lower shock mount by using shorter coils, how can the shock be the Same?

if they say this...
IMPORTANT: PLEASE LIST YOUR MAKE, MODEL, YEAR, AT CHECK OUT ALONG WITH HOW FAR TRUCK IS LOWERED AND WHAT COMPONENTS.

they are gonna send you shocks for your application... they will be shorter than stock.

His site said you can lower the truck 2" with his control arms and the spring would be the same. slammedxonairs site read his!
