Searching for a rad support for my 88 xlt can’t seem to find one online but I can find an 89-92, do these bolt up with some modifications? Are they that different from an 88

Not nicely.

People force a second gen clip to fit with a first gen rad support but they are not very compatible.

LMC has new first gen core supports last i checked...150 bucks

On a slightly related note, my truck is clearly an 88, but has 89 written on the core support like it came from a junkyard. Maybe VERY late 88?

Ive seen that usually when guys do that to remind them of service...usually coolant.

I hadn't thought of that, but it's partially behind right angle end of the air intake. Which is screwed to the core support. IDK if it's normal or not but the build tag is screwed on too. I thought they had rivets.
