Applecare questions.

My Iphone4 is giving me some trouble.
If i call it in to applecare, can i upgrade to a 4s at that time? Its 1year and two months old (the applecare and the phone).

I use to work at the Apple Store. The Apple Care will cover a new replacement of the exact model you have. You may be eligible for an early upgrade to the 4S, but an early upgrade will cost you $200 more than if you wait till the 2 year point.

My advice is that you just have them replace it under AppleCare (thats why you bought it) and just wait till the next model of phone comes out.

Well my thinking was, my wife still had the 3g, our contract is up but i cant afford two 4GS's so i was gonna upgrade mine, and buy hers with a new 2yr contract.

One other thing...

Look into the head phone jack with a flash light. There is a white disk at the bottom of the head phone port. There is another one on the camera side of the dock connector. These are liquid damage indicators. If they are purple, meaning liquid damaged, you can try and try but the AppleCare won't help. That is considered physical damage. Just an FYI. I killed mine with margarita.....

The "home" button is giving me trouble. I have to hit it 5-6 times to make it work sometimes.... Sometimes it works perfectly. Odd intermetent problem.

Best i can see, the one in the head phone jack is white. I cant find the other one......

Upgrade to the iPhone 4S will cost you money, as previously stated, but replacement should be covered under AppleCare as long as there is no Accidental Damage found. Make a Genius Bar appointment at the nearest Apple store for more help.

The liquid contact indicator on the bottom is under the dock connector in the center. Use a flashlight to check and maybe an old toothbrush or compressed air to clean it out. If you see pink or red, bring your wallet to the store for a replacement

I've had that same problem with the home button on mine too, except mine was like 13-15 times(very frustrating). By the time I finally brought it in it was a day out of warranty. They still replaced it for me.

I thought it was very nice of them. I would have kicked myself for waiting so long to bring it in if they didn't replace it.

If you're traveling 150 miles it probably wouldn't hurt to have it along. You'd think if the phone is registered that they'd have it on file, but having proof with you would sure be nice. JMO
