I'm putting the aod from a 84 towncar, I beleve I might be moving the crossmember, no problem in doing that, but was wondering if anyone has done that. With the aod.

I have the 4R70W trans which is a electronic version of the AOD. I moved my crossmember to the other set of holes that was already in the frame and everything works great.

I ended up doing the same thing as posted above. I measured the distance between the transmission mount holes and the cross member holes and came out to be the same length between the sets of holes in the frame. About the easiest part of the swap in my case. Always good to measure though! :)

what did you use for a drive shaft? did you cut one down?

Yes I took the stock drive shaft and had it cut down and rebalanced. I also had to find a conversion U-joint and the much bigger 4R70W yoke. If I remember right I think that you can just use the stock Ranger one if your Ranger was a stick shift.

My stock drive shaft with a long bed & A4LD was too short. Yoke was too small. I ended up just having a brand new shaft made.
