Look up Schedule M to see the Making Work Pay credit and see if you need to file that to get this credit. Look on line 63-ish of your 1040. Should be like $400 per person. 1040EZ should have a worksheet on the back.

I didn't see any of this first-hand, but my wife told me about it as she is doing our taxes at the moment.

i'm getting 1400-ish back this year but only because the "learning opportunity credit", so i was able to claim some tuition for my electrical apprenticeship.....but i owe the state 200 and took a huge hit from 7500 of unemployment i claimed without withholding any taxes from it....big mistake.

Also.....why does it seem the HARDER you work the LESS you make. It should just be a flat tax so everyone pay's the same percentage.

I disagree. The ones who pay more taxes are the ones who can afford it, and usually, they're NOT working harder, they just spent more time in school before they started working.

im gettin like 5300 back but two kids got me that
but on the good side now im lookin for a house woo hoo finally my own garage to work on my vehicles

damn i need to get my wife to pop out some babies ASAP

Hoping for about 5k back.:icon_bounceblue: I got four kids who aren't going anywhere for a while.:icon_surprised: I love tax credits and deductions!:yahoo:
I see some new wheels, running boards, and maybe a 289 in my ranger's near future:headbang: Maybe a paint job too if I have enough left over to get a kick@ss air compressor!:D

I'm sure they busted their ass in school too.

Is that really fair to tax someone a higher percentage just because they make more money?

That's kinda ****ed up really. I DON'T want to work hard and advance anymore because I'll get bent over on taxes. I know several people who have TURNED DOWN better jobs and raises because they will bring home more money with a lower salary.

These people didn't get it handed to them either, they started at the bottom and worked 80+ hours a week for many years to earn their position.

Also, I know a guy who have been laid off from work, went to school and collected unemployment... between that, financial aid, pension, and the couple other programs he's in, he figured he makes 10k more a year...

I really actually want to be a freerider and leech off the government. I'll make better money and have better benefits.

Not even kidding. To hell with work, give me my foodstamps, WIC, healthcare, and housing aid and I'll be set.

Just because you don't have money doesn't give you a right to take it from someone who does (coming from a college student working at a freakin grocery store making ten cents above minimum wage)

Aside from that, I'm getting about $300 back. Awesome.

finnaly got the form i was waiting for from the privious 401k place. turns out im not getting much back, maybe 2K. at least i dont owe. i didnt have any held back from my unemployment either, it only lasted about a month, survival was key, i knew id take a hit a year ago, but i was more concerned about "today" at thet time than the "tommarrow" that is now the present. for all i knew at that time, i could have been laid off 3-6 months. i wonder if i lived in a camper off the back of my truck if i could avoid school taxes? its not really do-able right now with a wife and child, but its been a thought that has crossed my mind, after all, no address=no school district, right?

im not sure yet... i was on EI from december 2008 to july 2009. handed out an assload of resumes but no job came up. damn so went on "income assistance" aka welfare (unfortunately) from about september to present, still on it.. i just got a T4 from income assistance and i got like just over 5g's from them so i dunno... gotta take it in and see what happens.

last february when i did my taxes i was supposed to get 900.00 back, but of course i owed medical money so they jacked about 500 bucks then the tax company (H+R) took about 70 bucks for doing my taxes... then some how i got a cheque from medical for like 400 bucks.. i was like wtf.. but i wasnt complaining.. haha..
