Like the title says.....I was seeing if you guys knew of anywhere. Guy at the Ford Dealer told me it's all on computers nowadays and I'm sorry, but that's just a pain in the ass to have to keeep running in and out of the house to check out the computer and get it all greasy. I still want a damn book for my truck! One of them big fawkers they had in garages and shops back in the day. Anyone have one they want to get rid of or know where I can find one? I'm looking for the one that covers transmissions for the 1991 Ford Ranger.

Zach

PS-
I found this one but the price was outrageous.

1991 Ranger Manuals

I bought the two volume set 'Shop Manuals' on eBay a couple of months ago and paid $35.00 for both including shipping. When I got them they looked like they had never been opened.
If I were looking for the shop manuals thats where I'd be looking.
Good luck!:icon_cheers:

Yea, I've got 2 of the Chilton/Hayes style. Those arn't the kind I'm talkin. Sorry for the misclarification on that.....

The kind I was referring to are the ones like etmichigan suggested. The big volume style ones they used to have.

Just checked Ebay and they have a couple on there. Thanks guys. I didn't even think to check on there.

the haynes/chiltons are garbage. like has already been said, ebay is your best bet. i have a FSM for both my car and my truck and they are awesome. i think i paid about $40 shipped for the one for my truck, and about $12 shipped for the one for my car so it all depends on how lucky you get. i've also got EVTM's for both vehicles, they come in handy as well

Depending on what you're doing, the 91 domestic Mitchell manual can be very handy as well.

You'll be very happy with the real Ford manuals for your truck. Be patient, and lucky, and you can get them for a reasonable cost from eBay. And I agree on the Mitchell manual; it's value is diagnostics with using common shop tools, versus the Ford practice of referring to procedures using their own "special tools".

Hold out for the factory manuals. Nothing else compares. Try and find the EVTM ( wiring diagram manual ) as well. Make diagnosing an electrical problem much , much easier.

Ford shop manuals and the wiring diagrams all the way! I bought a Hanes 10 years ago to find my greasing points on my Jeep. What I was looking for is some location on the chassis where they were. Very short discription said "Find the locations and fill with approved grease. If no fitting are there, add them". Wasn't worth the trouble to take them to the outhouse.

I'm deff. not knockin the Chilton Hayes manuals as for minor repairs for novices like I was back when I was 17, they worked great. Now I'm deff. moving on to the FSMs though.....

Haynes/Chilton's are fine for what they are designed to do. They normally cover several model years, and different models. Infomation included is general in nature, not specific. You will only find this kind of information in factory manuals.

I use manuals on disc. Much cheaper and informative. They are available on e-bay at reasonable prices. The last I bought were 20 bucks each.:)shady

I have all the factory manuals for everything I own--from lawn mower up to schoolbus.

I also have some Chilton and Haynes from back when I was learning my lesson. Fact is, Chilton and Haynes suck. I also have very old Motor books as well--also suck, though they are interesting to browse.

Only the factory service books interest me. I've gotten most from Ebay--even my 1949 dozer and 1971 skidloader were found on Ebay for just a few bucks each.

I bought my 2 vol set on ebay for about 40. They were clean but well used. corners were pretty bent. Not like it matters. I never even know you could get those till I met my gf. Her step dad has the full set for every vehicle they own. I got the haynes a long time ago but found it pretty worthless. I will always get a factory set of manuals for my cars/trucks.
