Anyone know how to numb a tooth?

Odd thing to ask I know but does anyone know how to numb a tooth I need all 4 wisdom teeth pulled and have to wait until tuesday at least. just need a few ideas to try, the pain is keeping me awake.

put a wet rag in the freezer for 1/2 hour. then bite down on it. rum does a good job too

24 hrs before I had my wisdom teeth pulled they started me on a triple dose of Ibuprofen. A day or so after the surgery when I stopped taking I noticed a bigger difference than when I stopped taking the hydrocodone.

Different stuff works for different people, and I bet the rum/rag trick works better. At least quicker anyway.

I know it works. had to do that before I went to mexico and had new teeth made. too much mountain dew and my teeth rotted away after excessive brushing scraped away the enamel. used the rag/rum trick many nights.

PS I tell people I lost my teeth in a car accident so they don't think I am OCD enough to brush the enamel off my teeth. but thats what happened, my OCD and love for Mountain Dew took my teeth away......

Thats funny. ALL drink is mt dew too and have had teeth pulled. YA the best way to help is to get drunk !!!! easy and fun too. Theres not many thinks that you can do at home to self medicate your self .

Hmmm...try crushing an aspirin or anacin into powder and rub it on the gum...there is also that Jiffy stuff that actually works (worked) but not even sure if it's still available...

I've heard of crushing an aspirn and rubbing the tooth with it. But when I've had work done on my teeth I've used Advil 200mg. You can take 1 or 2 tablets.

call the dentist's office where you are getting the work done.. they might prescribe a painkiller before you go in.. if you moan loud enough on the phone!

otherwise you can easy take upto 8x 200mg advil per day.

yeah anything with 20% benzocaine works great

Do NOT use high dosages of aspirin or any other anti-pyritic blood thinners. If you over-do it with aspirin and thin your blood out too much, you'll bleed like crazy for hours afterward.

If it's really bothering you, get Ora-Jel (or the much better tasting Baby Ora-Jel) from the drug store and use that.

I have taken 3 motrin 800's and 6 advil and barely noticed a difference, and have been attempting 2 advil every 4 hours (so what like 12 pills a day)

tried orajel and ambesol with no effect other than numbing for about 30 minutes

Swish a good bit of Jack Daniel's around in your mouth.
There is some red stuff that you can spray into your mouth, I forget the name, but I used it when I was a kid after they'd adjust my braces and my teeth hurt like hell.

Just drink the whole bottle...if that doesn't kill the pain it will give you a headache the next day that will take your mind off the tooth for a while...

Seriously though, a topical anisthetic is what works best...rubbing the gum with a pain killer might help if you don't have anything else that works...it works for babies...all the time when they are cutting teeth...
