I got a playstation 4 I've used as a cable box for years (netflix, amazon, youtube etc) never used it for video games. Yesterday is shut off and now all it does when you try to turn it on is beep, turn white for a minute flash a yellow light and turn back off. Now I'm stuck watching tv on my tablet...

Any of you gamer people know how to fix it besides cursing at it?

cursing at it is definitely the first go-to that I use in such a situation.

If it is like my PS3, it is probably full of dust bunnies and may have nuked itself because it could not cool itself properly. take it a part and blow it out, make sure everything is plugged in good inside (harddrive connectors etc).

Other than that, hit up youtube. there has got to be some basement dweller that has had this problem before and Mommy won't buy him a new one, so desperate times lead to solutions and making a youtube video for other basement dwellers.

Interestingly enough, I used my PS3 as a "cable box" as well until I got my Roku... you can get a Roku for less than 50 bucks.

i dont have a ps4 or xbox, but my buddy has the xbox1 or whatever. sound like the "Red Ring of Death" the happens the those systems. no fix

I did what any old person would do when they need technological help... I called a child. In this case my nephew who is 15 and he told me to clean it and then wack it and it'll work again.

Sure enough, cleaned the dog hair out of it and then wacked it and it turned back on.

What the heak is a roku?

Roku is the cheapest way to watch tv without going into debt with Comcast

Wtf is it though? A gizmo box? I have cable and internet through optimum but i just use internet for amazon prime video, netflix, and youtube (i own tons of shows through google/youtube). I rarely watch actual cable tv and dont even have a box in my living room. If the roku box gives me all them i might buy it.

My ps4 gives me all my tv and movie apps... which is why its my cable box

you definitely need to check out Roku. its a box that plug into your tv (HDMI) and plugs into the wall. as long as you have an Internet connection. netflix hulu DCUniverse Boomerang all kinds of stuff. plutoTV is nice, it is live tv. sports stuff.

i love my Roku

Fire stick is worth checking into also. Basically gets you the apps to use over an internet connection. It's tiny. Doesn't take up any space.

yes, roku is very similar from what I've heard. I've never used a FireStick

I was under the impression that a firestick required a USB port on the TV though.

I'd have to look later. I think there are several models. Thought mine was HDMI. But I could be remembering wrong.

I am getting rid of dish network as soon as att repairs my phone lines. I only have a 3 mbs connection and download at 400kbs. I want to upgrade to 6.0mps but can't do that until att attempts to try and repair some of their outdated crap. I am going to use the firestick. My buddy uses it and he loves it.

i use Roku and my phone's hot spot for the internet connection.

Well I have two bars in the yard for cell reception and drop calls in the house. So I'm screwed either way.
