93 ranger 2.3 std trans ,had broken timing belt , removed cover and found no timing mark on inner cover for aux shaft , thre is however a mark on the pulley , repair manual states there is mark on inner cover, only problem is aux shaft drives cam syncro and it does run but codes pop up for cam sync and floods out and stalls when revved above 3000rpm.

If by aux shaft you're referring to the gear located up and to the right of the crankshaft, as long as you're running a DIS/EDIS, that sproket is not specifically timed. It may power either the oil pump or maybe a balance shaft, but my 92 didn't seem to care where it was aimed. Ran the same regardless. Then again, not sure if they added any sensors to it after 92 so cannot confirm.

the only model that has a cam synchonizer is the california models. It's a pain in the u know what. but that's why a lot of people don't understand. you need a special tool to alighn the cam snychronizer. you can find it online. a temporary fix is to simply unplug the cam synchronizer. on the earlier models (93-94) the motor will run fine with it unplugged.

thank you bryan 22 I did some searching online and none were listed for the 2.3 but I got the ford part # (t93p12200a) witch was cross referenced to otc tool # 6471 thanks for youall input these forums are great!
