Anyone have any tips about rebuilding a C5?

A rebuild kit is $65 bucks from napa for me, so I think ill just go threw it while its out. I've been into th350s and a some Allison autos, and I've got all the tools to go threw it from a guy at work that said I could use his. I should be able to get a shift kit for it shouldn't I? I haven't done any googling on it yet. Thanks everyone

Also from reading and googling a little can I pretty much HD it by using "foreword and direct drums" out of a c4 and using the C4 valve body? Will that work with the C5 Torque convertor? or do I need the c4 tc to make it work? (I know that bellhousings are different, so I'm guessing the c5 tc would work with the c4 "foreword and direct drums" and using the C4 valve body???)
