Anyone have a snow plow on their Ranger?

I've been thinking about getting a used one to add to mine. It takes me forever to plow with my lawn tractor and snow blade. My only concern is the weight added to the front.

Just wondering if anyone here has one, and if you could post photos and info on your setups.

I've got a 7' Meyers power angle plow on my '89 supercab. It really drags the front end down, but I only use the truck to plow my driveway. It's not even registered or insured, and never sees the road. I'll get you some pics tomorrow.

You'd be much better off getting a full sized beater for a plow truck, although they do make some light-weight manually operated plows that may work on a ranger. Plowing is hard on everything, though.

Well, they *did* offer a b2 stock with a plow in one year didn't they? They had airbags in the front coils to stiffen things up I think..?

I remember, about 2 months ago, someone asking about doing a solid axle swap on a 98+ ranger because his snow plow made his tires rub... He was asking about getting stiffness without really lifting it.

Go get a real tractor and snow-thrower attachment for it? lol

I would get one that has a set of wheels to support the weight. that should help quite a bit.

Yup , best thing I ever did , is mount a plow ,,,, and believe me we get snow up here .

Here's another one. I'm breaking in a new road with 2 1/2 - 3 feet of packed snow in places ,,,, it plowed it like a champ!!

They work great. I run one on my 88 with a 2.9l and manual transmission. its a 6 1/2 foot western. The only thing I did is air lift air bags in the front and i repacked the front bearings just to make sure. This summer my clutch started going out so i swapped in the 4.0 clutch cant wait to see if it was really worth it. One other thing from the research i did is plows are not recommended on rangers without the twin beam front suspensions.

I know that Will had a plow on his BII and ran air bags in the front coils.

I put a plow on my F-150 two years ago. Only really got to use it last winter. It is a LOT of weight on the front end, I'd rather have two vehicles and when the plow goes on the one, it only goes out to plow while the other truck without the plow gets daily driver usage.

They are not really ideal either... usually they go on the back so you have drive backwards everywhere and hope your reverse is slow enough (if it isn't you either plug the thing up or burn out your clutch)

And if you have a gravel driveway they are like a machine gun...

They have a "snowplow package" listed in my '85 brochure, I forget what all is included but it did include air bags inside the front springs. My '86 parts truck had them in it (they let air out as fast as you put it in though)

They make some of them with plastic blades for homeowner use that would help for weight.

Had a 7ft minute mount plow on my old 93. I put airbags inside the coils. truck plowed great besides having the 3.0L and manual transmission.

Does any one have a picture of these air bags, I'm having a hard time picturing them.
Maybe it because I live in the south
