Here's the bumper I'm looking at, they have it priced at 550 (Shipping included), but from that pic it looks like the welds aren't even completed (just tacks) which seems kind of strange.

Anyway I was wondering about the cost and difficulty of making one myself that is similar and is a bolt-on application (and no cutting or drilling of the frame required).

P.S.: I have access to welders and tubing benders

That stinger is just tacked on... wtf. If you have access to the bender and the welder, and you know how to weld and make good solid welds, have at it! Definitely make it yourself. You can build it exactly how you want it that way. They really wouldn't be that difficult if you have all the equipment and the skills. Cost could be very cheap depending on who you get your metal from.

Good luck, and post pics!

Yeah I'm in a welding class right now, and my mig welds are pretty solid, so if I get the ok from my teacher I'll do it my self. It would probably only be around 100 for the tubing I think.

I'll probably be looking mainly at raceranger97's bumper for inspiration. I love that thing!

Looks like its a pre-production/mock-up/prototype, The whole thing is just tacked together. Here's another pic from the site.

yeah I saw that one too. Seems a bit pricey though

Less than halfway down page 11 of the Thread "Lets see your bumpers" (sticky here in the fabrication section) Swickwake has some good pictures of a bumper fairly similar to the one pictured here in this thread. I really like his design and am going to make a version of it for my 88. I don't know if there is a way to link to it, but either way it is worth looking at if you are considering designing your own. His is certainly a better design than anything I could think up on my own.

I saw that one. Not much of a fan of it but it is definately giving me ideas...
