Taking them out is easy: push them side to side while pulling. What about getting them back in. I don't seem to be strong enough while pushing in and rocking them a little for the O-ring to get all the way in. What's the trick?

The top half of the intake manifold is off, the fuel rail is off, I just need to seat the injectors, put the rail on, and put the top of the intake on.

I don't have engine oil, so I've used paint thinner to lube the o-ring and the female receptacle (fuel injector opening in the intake manifold). is that the problem, not slick enough?

use engine oil, penetrating oil, or gasoline. then they should slide right in.

if you have to force them in the o-rings WILL tear and they will leak

do they "seat" in a groove?

is there a groove in there, where the o-ring is captured?

also, how often are they supposed to be changed? i've got over a hundred thousand on these.

Don't use ANYTHING but vasoline.

Then they will go in.

Try and put them in dry, you risk tearing them.

axle/bearing grease ok?

how about a light coating of axle grease?

engine oil or gasoline. i've never tried vasoline, but all the service literature i've ever read says engine oil or gasoline. anyways.. the important thing is LUBE. don't use silicone

you might have the o-rings stuck in the fuel rail/manifold. you should take them out and put them on the fuel injectors first

fuel injectors should last for the life of the truck. they do occasionally go bad or get dirty, but they are meant to last.

yes, the injectors do "seat"

I used oil, they went in, and i had to push hard and wiggle them a bit, and there was a point where they "seated" and I could feel it. when seated, they won't come out with a light tug on them, and the yellow/orange part won't be visible. (that's the part on both sides of the o-ring). the fuel rail goes on without any difficulty at all. the o-rings (oiled) slide right in. thanks for the help, all!

Next time use vasoline and a Q-tip. they will slide right in with minimal effort and its a lubricant that wont dry out the rings, or contaminate.
Engine oil it a bad idea IMHO but will work ( dries and gums up. The next time you remove it it'll tear, same for gasoline )
