I was just wonderin, I love all things powered, I really want a 50' powerboat like a fountain or a cigarette, old scarab, formula, baja, stuff like that. i just wanna hear everybody opinion of them, Im only 20 I got a while b4 Ill be able to aford one, there only $300,000+.

I like boats. I like those boats. But I don't want one. A boat like that can burn 100 gallons of fuel an hour at 100mph and 50 gallons per hour at 60mph-3 hours of running it easy and you have spent $500 on fuel. That's a lot of money. I'm betting they sit a lot unless you have an accountant that doesn't tell you what it costs to operate.

My current project (under construction) has 10hp, will make 7 mph at 1 gallon per hour wide open. Spending a whole week-end being a water gypsy would set you back $50 if you run the motor at half power the entire 48 hours.

yea that 300 gallon fuel tank being refilled a couple of times a run would suck. But Id have the time of my life going 120mph on the water.

you either posted the wrong video or felt like being a arse:annoyed:

I am huge into boating, specifically powerboats. I currently have a 17 foot four winns, and a 21 foot four winns Liberator. My family also has a Bertram 46.6 M/Y. I just sold the 27 foot fountain that I had bought as a project. The guy ran it into a sand bar at 70 mph and ripped the lower unit out. So I got it after it had sunk and replaced the engine and lower unit redid the upholstery, made a new cover for it, a tricky gel coat scheme, and finished it off with a bumpin sound system. I had purchased the hull for 1500, and by the time I was done I had put another $8000 into it. Mercury Blues aint cheap. And I sold it for $18000.

I am also a second year cadet at Great Lakes Maritime Academy as an engineer. Which means that I will be a liscensed officer and I will be working aboard comercial ships. So except for my truck, I spend all of my time on the water.

Oh P.S. 140+ on the water rocks! 44 foot Marine Technologies Inc. catamaran that my neighbor owns. Its only got 1800 horsepower.

Unfortanately I dont. Its really kinda bogus. Since im in school I havent really been able to afford the boats as much and I dont have a place up here to store them so they stay at home, and all of my pictures I put on my computer at home cause thats where the work all gets done. If I can scrounge some up I will be sure to post them.

I am very much into boats, i have been racing boats since i was 12 years old, not really into the big boats but the 19 foot outboard drag race boats, we have 2 of them currently, they can both go 125+ mph and cruise at 25 mph just as well, they do very good on gas when not full throttle and they also pull a slalom skier extremely well. The motors on them are 2.5L Mercury V6 outboards that put out 280 horse STOCK, and ours are anything but stock. The boat with the motor and driver in it weigh approx. 1,450 pounds with 6 gallons of fuel in it.
The catch is they do not do well on big water as they are only 19 foot boats that are very light, they are mainly for inland lakes and resovoirs.

As a kid growing, my father was a commerical fisherman, so I've always been around water and boats. Living in Alabama is the furtherest I've ever lived from the ocean. Heck, I had a boat before I had my first car. When my brother and went fishing, we would just tell our parents if we were going upriver or downriver so in case something happened they would know where we were at. Nothing big or fancy, mostly work and/or fishing boats. Growing up around boats I learned always be prepared. Take a few parts(plugs, filters, etc.), and tools. There ain't no AAA on the water. I always have parts, tools and fluid even in my Bll. You never know....
