Anybody get SCREWED with their auto insurance rates lately?


That's one good thing about insurance in FL. Windshield glass coverage is zero-deductable mandatory part of comprehensive.
have noticed rate creep for years, even tho I have no negative activity on my driving record. Minn also has a no deductible glass policy, altho I suspect glass is worked into the cost of comp.
I'm a little over 1400 yr for my Ranger and an older pass car, that includes mostly everything except I dropped collision(the largest expense) via USAA

Liability
Comp/full glass (500 deductible on body)
Road side assist/towing
work assistance pay after an accident up to 500/wk
 
I have somewhat of an idea..

It's "how can I screw my policy holders as much as I can whilst giving my investors as big of a return as possible"

Speaking of which... UNH shares are still down a MASSIVE percent after the whole Luigi incident.. buy now! Lol.



Stopped by the insurance office after work, they're going to get me some quotes and get back to me tomorrow or Wednesday.. fingers crossed they can find me a much better rate 🤞🏻 also asked about collectors insurance for the ranger...lady said she thinks it might be too new (it's 30 damn years old!) but she'll look anyways.

On the collector, try Hagerty or Grundy direct. With the low rates, I doubt they pay any kind of decent commission to the brokers, so they make believe they can’t get those companies..
 
Just got a call back from my agent.. found a policy for both vehicles 2k a year 👍🏻 thankfully.

I woulda been happy with my old rate to be honest but.. cheaper is much more betterer. Big relief.
 
My insurance rates with USAA have been very reasonable until last year when I bought a new Bronco. That about tripled my insurance for 4 vehicles. Hopefully it will go down as the Bronco ages but that will take a while.

Two or four door? Two door vehicles often take a hit. It being new is another hit. Though, I must say that there isn't a huge difference between the 2011 and 2019 with the same coverage. I'm not sure if they consider the 2011 a four door because of the suicide doors on the back of the cab or not. But the 2019 is a four door and is about $10 a month more.

We are not talking 1960's Chevelles here where people are drag racing them...

If anything I would think the 4dr Bronco would cost more because it has an extra $5k roof panel plus god knows what doors cost plus more likely to carry more people to get hurt.

Insurance companies play the statistical numbers when setting rates. Those who drive a four door tend to be less of a risk than those who drive a two door. The type of vehicle plays a part in it as well and it depends on their point of view. The Bronco may be viewed as being more likely to be driven off road, and thus more of a risk for a insurance claim as a result. That is purely speculative on my part about the off roading but a two door anything tends to have a higher insurance premium than a four door of the same model.

Agreed, the more sporty, the more the insurance costs. And you’re talking about the chance of taking it off road, I don’t even think it’s that extreme. If you’ve got a nice four-door and you get stuck in snow, you may just take the afternoon off. But if you’ve got a ranger or a bronco or whatever, and it snows, it’s like “finally I have something to drive through with this thing!” And the Broncos in four-wheel-drive’s Rangers, etc., they slide on ice just like my big land yachtss.

Collector policies are typically less expensive because the people who go to the trouble of getting a collector car and getting the collector policy tend to be a lot more careful because now they’re ensuring their “baby,” not just a car.
 
Totaling a car is like nothing compared to medical/funeral expenses in a real accident.

Musclecars vs their crew cab variants and whatnot sure. I don't think it is as big of a deal with trucks and SUV's though.
