any way to increase the idle on a 1990 2.3?

I have a 1990 2.3L which runs quite well but when RPMs drop very low (when I downshift into Neutral to make a turn) it occasionally will stall out. I am thinking that if the idle speed was increased that would prevent this from happening. I just got a new ECU for the truck as there were a lot of wiring issues. Does anyone know if its possible to raise the idle? I know you can pull out a spud and decrease the idle, but I don't know if its possible to increase. Anyone know??? thank you

do you have a tachometer? if not it's kinda a pain to adjust it right, but in short, yes there is an idle screw, pull off the black plastic cover from the throttle body and from there you'll see the idle screw, turn it in about a turn and that should take care of your problem

PS, that's not the right way but it will get you by. the right way is to unplug the IAC valve connector (grey 2 wire connector near the throttle body on the passenger side) and start the engine, set it to idle at 500rpm, when you plug the IAC back in it should idle around 900rpm. I know there's another way that involves testing the TPS sensor to be set to .9V but I haven't tried that way...

Don't mess with the screw. This will confuse the computer, and cause other problems. If your truck doesn't idle, it has a problem. Sticking/bad IAC valve, electrical connections, etc. Read your codes, you may have one stored. You can pull the valve and see if it is gummed up.

Vacuum leaks will cause idle problems.
Throttle position sensor will cause idle problems, and so on.shady
