I dunno where the info is coming from since the article states the 2020 ranger has 4 out of 5 star reliability but the 2019 has one star and now the 2021 is worse.

They are all the same exact truck...

This pretty much proves that anyone can get a job as an automotive writer these days.

I got $10 that says she has never sat in a Ranger or knows anything more then what she has plagiarized in her automotive career.

I bought one of the first 2019 Rangers to be produced. Where it falls in that count order, I can't say but I haven't had one problem with the thing yet. I also don't get where they say the Ranger has been trouble prone in general for all years. Certain parts of the trucks have had their quirks over the years but I wouldn't classify them as horrible. I've had other makes that were much worse.

Like stated previously, it sounds like someone is either really biased or they got paid to write what they wrote. Some have reported some issues with the infotainment system but it hasn't be reported as a rampant thing. Some have also reported fuel in the oil issues but again, it hasn't been rampant. The rest is personal preference complaints and not really a deficiency of the truck.

Consumer Reports isn't the company they used to be and they have always had a bias towards high priced items over more what the average buyer would get. Their reviews are supposed to come from their members. That still may be partially true but based on my experience and what their reviews have been, I'm beginning to suspect that. That or their members are a bunch of ignorant city people that don't know how things are supposed to work. They just want it to work with minimal effort on their part or maintenance being done to keep them running properly.

JD Powers is a much more trusted source for this sort of data as they have a much larger sample size and no axe to grind.

According to JD Powers, reliability ratings are:
2019 - Great at 81/100
2020 - Great at 88/100
2021 - Great at 88/100

And JD power is still a useless marketing firm with alot of useless awards. They are not unbiased because they are a marketing firm. While their "research" is supposedly completely consumer based their job is to sell crap and car companies have to pay for their "awards".

Ok, with the amount of information the reviews have, I'm going to try just sharing the link to the review for the 2019. If that works, then I'll share more. If not, I'll have to try and figure out something else. In short, they pretty much slam the Ford Ranger as a P.O.S. while giving generally pretty decent marks for just about every category and then recommend a Ridgeline, Frontier, or Tacoma as a better choice in that order.
