I just got done rebuilding a 4L60E and installed it (In a lifted suburban  ) and (This is a long explanation ) The transmissions feels like its in park when your trying to push it backwards, So i started it put in reverse and it still don't move backwards, I give it gas and it moves back but.. It pops when moving back like something is stuck.

I have already pulled the oil pan pushed the truck back and i can see the low/reverse drum and it looks like its hanging up. I have checked the valve body bolts for that is too long in the wrong spot. This thing is lifted and not easy to pull the transmission i know i am going to have to do it again but maybe there is another solution.

Any ideas?

Meanwhile i will probably be working on pulling this thing for now, Have to remove a lot of parts to get the transmission to clear.

The case broke and there was a piece of it floating around the low/reverse drum and locking it up.

Oh damn. Is the case fixable? My buddy has a guy that fixes them for him for about 75 bucks a piece when one of his R&R guys breaks one.

It was repairable i am sure, but lucky for me i had another 4L60E case in my garage (Big rip off from private party, they sold me a transmission that was bad) so i just swapped the case.

That car was just one issue after another.. One thing after another pita lifted suburban when all done i pulled and installed that trans 4 times. I am going to keep a closer watch on parts next rebuild.

Actually i will probably never touch a suburban again this one was my nightmare.
