Any reason why I was getting 10.7mpg?

If you are only getting 10mpg I would suspect the CTS also, it will think your truck is not warmed up and keep dumping fuel in, get yourself a Chilton manual and it will tell you what you need to do, it's pretty much just an unplug and plug in the new sensor operation... 30 minutes tops, if you stop for refreshment after you pull the old one out...

like that?
any chance someone has one posted online somehow? if i had one.. i'd pdf it for these forums lol...

I divided the gas i put in, by the miles i had driven. Two occassions I did this

If that's what you really did, then wouldn't it be 10.7 gallons per mile? And that does seem a little low for a Ranger, regardless of engine and tranny.....:icon_rofl:

I ran my hubs locked in the Bronco II this winter and still got over 18mpg.

i might have worded it wrong, not sure..

i'd have to check again obviously...
but i'm pretty sure i did it right.

How can i know?

use your spare tire jack (or better equivalent) to raise each tire off the ground. They should "spin" freely. The 2 fronts should take about the same amount of effort to spin, if one is significantly harder than the other post up. do the same for the rear 2 tires but you mite have to lift the entire "rear end" up at once.

Yes automatic trans

I am wondering if you have lost your final drive gear in your transmission.

Just curious, but what size tire do you have on the truck, vs. what the door sticker says?

They are stock pretty sure... nothing out of the ordinary big.. you can look at the picture if you want.

Hm, well I did my own brakes (with somebody who knows how to do them) a couple of months ago...

I can try driving in Overdrive, Drive, 1st, and 2nd if you'd like me to tomorrow...

Brakes are funny some times, just check them.

Just drive up to 50MPH in "drive" and then shift to "overdrive" see if you can feel the transmission shift.

I would agree with everyone else, your motor is either DEAD or you have some sort of sensor issue.

Do you know roughly what RPM you are at when traveling certain speed?

Will check brakes this upcoming weekend.
I drive in Overdrive normally... is that bad?

I can find out for you... tell me a speed and I will figure it out sometime this week.

99% of people do it. Do I agree with it, not really. To avoid confusing you I am just going to tell you its not bad, because it really isent a big deal.

I do not know the a4ld trans well enough to know exactly were it should be running at what speed.
