Any new firearm purchases?

You know that they make a fairly cheap brrrt sear for those right? Videos I've seen on youtube look fun. Expensive, but fun. While I'll readily agree that the best gun/caliber for self defense is the one you're comfortabler shooting, I'm never a proponent of .22lr for that purpose. That said, there's probably a case to be argued for putting a bunch of .22lr into something very rapidly.

While I haven't shot it, dad had one of the TX 22s and seemed to like it. Want to say that his has the regular slide with optic mount, instead of the competition slide, but it also has the threaded barrel. It's probably my sister's now if whe wants it, if she doesn't I might have to get it and the afore mentioned accessory for playing with at the private range.
There won't likely be any mods to this one.

A couple guys at the local gun counters have this one and love them. There has never been one in the gun case to handle though... they sell as soon as they get a couple in. So this one we will all get to handle it and shoot it at the range. I think I want one... and if the wife likes it... she may get one too. For my daughter and the wife... I hope its a stepping stone into a 9mm. But maybe not. With it being the most affordable to shoot... low recoil... I'm hoping it will build confidence and they can become accurate and comfortable with it.

That's something my governor feels i shouldn't be allowed to own. Kinda hard to conceal in a purse too. Pretty cool none the less.

Most people in your age group have pretty big purses though, I think my grandma could have packed a 10/22 takedown in hers. You might need to upgrade purses?

You run out of bubbles again little buddy?

Glad I am out of purse hitting range...

i was reading some articles and a number of places said a 22 ar15 is the most commonly sold ar caliber. i never would have thought that but i suppose it could be true because of cost of the weapon, ammo, and feel of shooting.

i have never shot a 22 rifle though my son has a 10/22 ruger. i only have m16 a2 range time from the army, m60 range time, and 249 saw time because those were my weapons while active duty. the 556 never felt like it kicked to me so i bet a 22 cal ar15 feels like a spring powered break bb gun.

i am a huge fan of the 22 caliber round though. i would like to get a walther p22 or a sig mosquito for the fun of it.

I would be kind of surprised if that is true compared to the .223/5.56.

Weapon cost is a huge turnoff to me. If I am going to pay real AR money I would just as soon have a real AR.

thats what i think too. 223/5.56 i feel is way more common but i have no way to check, other than googly

You can get kits to run .22 in a .223 if you wanted to as well.

thats cool. better for practice costs

Interesting. The two stores I've worked at, the numbers for .22LR ARs werent even large enough to be considered a fraction of those we sold in 5.56. A common salesman misnomer is refering to the 5.56/.223 AS 22 caliber, as they use .22 caliber muzzel devices and thread size. A rimfire 22 AR usually is a devoted platform and shares few if any parts at all with the actual AR pattern rifles they're modeled after other than a grip and stock.

I will point out for your info, as you might find it kinda cool, you can use a conversion bolt and mags in a 5.56 or .223 AR and shoot .22LR through it, you just have to stick to copper plated ammo or you'll clog the gas port. Depending on your military experience, cleaning one after that may or may not be PTSD enducing. The rimfire kits run filthy.

I have a P22, can highly recommend, however mine is nearing 15 years and several spring sets old and the newer ones seem to have a lot of fitment issues that there are several online guides to fixing. The mags must be loaded properly as a rule for reliable feeding, meaning the rims must stack exactly right when loading.

i would think if a person wanted to fire 22lr through an ar, it would be cheap enough to just buy a rifle for 22. i know it does dirty up my little 22 revolver.

i have a question for you guys about ammo.

22 has a little ridge around the bottom that i guess keeps the shell in place when firing but some rounds are smooth all the way down. how do those smooth ones stay in place and not go into the barrel or firing area to much?

something locks around that necked down spot to keep it in place?

The rim is just for ejection, once it is in the chamber there isn't really anywhere for it to go.

For sealing and fitment you get into headspace.

Having a rim like a .22 is a older way of making a shell, like a .45 Long Colt and 45-70 are also rimmed.
