Hey, guys:

I am trying to get started into Lisp. I have read about it it some mathematics books that I have bought, and I think it looks pretty powerful. I have just installed Ubuntu on a Compaq that I got from a yard sale for $5, and am trying to get Emacs to work with Steel Bank Common Lisp.

Anyways, the point is, who uses Lisp? Do you find it better than C/Fortran/Assembly? What kind of things do you do with it?

Regards,
Colin.

I don't think I'll ever code DOS again, if I can help it.

I used MS Visual C++ .Net or something like that in school. That's probably why I switched to mathematics!!!

I used to have a lisp but I saw a speech therapist and now it's gone.

Well, this turned out to be a bust.

Sorry, but I've never even heard of it...other than the above references...did you try google searching for it...or does that bring up speech therapist sites too?

Lisp is a programming language... well, more like a scripting language, I guess. It's pretty powerful, I have heard. I've been playing around with it. I'm trying to build an MP3 streaming server with it.

I didn't know if anyone had had any experience with it.
