Hmm seems low smaller ones in my area are asking way more. Damn I'm doing research but I'd love to talk then down since that might be the max if spend do it's perfect, but I know I need to get a hitch, new tires, possible maintenance to the thing. Hmm tough maybe start at 1200?

Any other thoughts?

Nah the wife is kinda set on one of these and I like the idea lotsa possibilities lol. Anyways not too many listed around my area so we'll see hope it doesn't sell by the time we go see it.

That depends on if your truck is an A/T or M/T & what the gear ratio is in the rear end. If your truck is a M/T then I would say go for it ,But again if its a 3.45 geared rear I would at least look for a 3.73 rearend. Also some of those tent trailers actually came with electric brakes ,so if that one has them you would need a trailer brake controller also

Depends on the weight really, My folks camper weighs 2500lbs but I'm not even gonna think of towing it seeing as I don't have trailer brakes installed, and don't feel like fussing with installing one as I only have a 4 pin connector from the factory and Class III hitch.

Since your starting fresh though, you can just wire a 7 pin in and probably have no issue.

What id the weight on that camper? They usualy have it on the camper somewhere. I towed small campers before with my older Toyota trucks with the 22r motor...not a problem. The campers I towed were just a bit smaller then tat one you are looking at. Now, towing with the 22r was not the fastest up really steep mountain roads, but on slightly elevated and of course level roads it was no problem. My 99 Ranger 4.0 tows a camper really well and I have no problems towing my flats boat with ease up steep hills and has plenty of power for this. A 4 banger is not the best for towing a lot of weight. None of my buddies with Fords, Dodges or Chevys have a 4 banger truck anymore...they all swapped to either a V6 truck or got a bigger truck. They got tired of not being able to tow much. I can understand that since we like to go places a lot and we love to take the boat out a lot in the summer time. I borrow my dad's camper sometimes when we go camping...but, my parents have a cabin on a lake and we can spend a weekend there and take the boat out as well. That can spoil you..lol.

If his truck has the 3.45 gears I would suggest changing to 3.73s

I have a manual 3.73 gears. Ok so I won't be able to check it out till Friday but it has trailer brakes, so I need a trailer brake controller? How much do those run and how hard of an install are they? also it's all flat around here so not too many steep anythings lol.

The term is the same thing, Bro. Travel trailers and travel campers are campers you can take along with you. Truck bed camper is what you are talking about.

Example: Names of major camper builders:

Coleman pop up camper, Fleetwood pop up camper, Keystone camper, Rockwood camper, Bee Line camper……names that have been used for many years. Another name is Travel Trailers. Ever go to an RV show? They are also called CAMPERS. Apache Truck Camper….mounts in the pickup bed. Also called Slid In truck camper.
