will a 4.0 maf housing with the stock 2.9 mad meter work on a 2.9? I'm trying to do the maf swap and am running out of advice?

I don't know. Possible, but it is configured for a different engine. My guess is no.

I don't think it will work properly out of the box, but it might be able to be made to work.

Here is the trick. A MAF sensor doesn't measure ALL the air. It measures part of it and infers the contents of the rest from that sample. By putting a 2.9 sensor in a 4.0 housing and just using it without having it tuned in at all, you are messing with the sample rate because the 2.9 intake ducting is smaller than a 4.0's.

Well I have a 1991 2.3 MAF housing and meter which cardone says will work on a 2.9, but the outlet side is SO small. Is it really this small on a stock 2.9 MAF. I have the top of the air cleaner asembly and everything to make it work but idk about air hose ducting.
