Anti-tailgater device

when i get tailgated i hit my hazard light. i do not let them flash more then once. you get the same effect as hitting your brakes but you are not.

i second GoodOld85BlueBalls. once that moron passed me on that center turn lane, i finally realized what a true nut job i was messing with. it wasn't worth how close they came to causing a serious accident for innocent people.

most people are little intimidated even by my mildly lifted ranger and they tend to stay the hell away from me or move out of my way. still others seem to see it as a challenge I sometimes feel the target of road rage.

if its a residential street I will just slow to a stop right in front of the asshole and let them go round.

Ive actually had a woman/mom swerve at me to run me off the road, then cut me off and brake check me, then tailgate me for blocks with freakin babys and toddlers in car seats in the back of her car.

the last tailgator i had, i speeded up and he still was on my butt. so i put it in nutral, put both feet on the brake pedal and held it as tight as i could, i didnt get hit, but i couldnt see him in my mirrors, it had to be close. after i came to a stop i drove off and he just sat there. id like to rig up a pump of some sort to put used oil in the exhaust for such a occasion, but it doesnt happen enough for it to be worth my time.

What is everyone doing to cause the person to tailgate ????? I understand that some people will always tailgate because you are not going fast enough for them ,while doing the legal speed limit...

Easy to do mod for your exhaust system is to set-up a smoke-screen device...

Washer fluid pump, 1 injector into the exhaust line and pump a little kerosene into the exhaust...

I've seen people do it, it will get the tailgater's attention for sure!

People just get off of the gass and let them pass you. even better when there is no where for them to go to change lanes. like when you are in the far left lane and a semi is next to you.

then you can do stuff like blow kisses. this pisses of dudes and freaks out chicks.

a couple of weeks ago i was driving well too fast for the conditions it was a warm winter night so it was really slick out and i kinda cut of a taxi but not in a bad way where he couldn't stop or anything so he was driving with his brights on and talking on his phone like all cab drivers do. So when we were at a red light i simply putter in reverse so the lights came on and he didn't do anything then i start backing up and i think he got the point when my smashed up rear bumper was inches away from his front bumper, needless to say he turned them off.

When it comes down to your actions causing someone to lose their life and your facing a jury to answer for what happened....how many of you are going to man up and say "well I have been having problems with tailgaters, so I hooked up a (insert your favorite James Bond device) " Or " I was really pissed about everyone tailgaiting me, so I decided it would be in everyones best interest for me to slam on my brakes" I'll answer it for you, none. Not one of you. And even if nothing were to happen....at the end of the day, what did you win?

I don't know what I'm doing that people are always riding my tailgate. I am usually doing 10 to 15 over on the highway when out of nowhere idiots in vehicles that are at least as tall as mine come flying and then sit where I can't even see their headlights. That is what pisses me off, because, despite blueballs' warning about them not taking me seriously if quick action is needed, and then slowing their reaction time, when you are that close at 65-75 MPH, no amount of reaction time is going to save their grill or my tailgate.

I think I'm gonna go Bond style and rig some anti-aircraft missiles behind the turn signals.

That sounds like the most reasonable, cost effective, and least time consuming option available.

Tailgaters are one my biggest pet peaves...drives me up the wall! I usually just start easing off the gas and slow down more and more until they get the message. Tailgaters with bright lights are the worst....I have used a mirror to shine their light back at them to get em to shut off their brights and or back off. I have thought of a couple different things to use against them....one might be illegal but hook a set of driving lights as "back up" lights and the other is to mount a windshield washer pump to spray backwards. Another thing that works sometimes (if you smoke) is if you flick a butt straight up out the window sometimes it will bounce off their windhsield,the lit ones really get their attention. I'm not saying revenge is ok but I wish people would stay off others butts while driving

When i used to smoke i was driving my honda and had some idiot about a foot behind me. I flicked the cig out the sunroof and watched their hood light up like a christmas tree when it hit, they backed off about a 1/4 mile.

I get as annoyed as anyone at the stupid, dangerous, inconsiderate drivers out there. Tailgaters, phoners, texters, newpaper readers, eaters, makeup artists, you name it.

But I also ride a motorcycle as often as possible. How many of you would hit your brakes or downshift in front of a tailgater if you were on a bike? One of my bikes is a full dress Harley FLHTC but even that "trunk" ain't gonna last long in a tangle with anyone's bumper.

So when I'm in the Ranger or Mustang and someone tailgates me I think about how I'd handle it on the bike. Then I gradually slow down until the swing around and pass me.
