Hey guys,

I just finished installing a touchscreen into my '08 and I was thinking that the 2 screws at the bottom of the bezel really don't keep the thieves out. Anybody done anything with their trucks to make it more difficult/time consuming for the thieves?

Thanks!
Vic

i would suggest an alarm and steering wheel club. theyre more of a deterant than an actual security device. it takes a coat hanger and 30 seconds to get into a ranger. so the most you can do is make the thief think twice when they notice some sort of deterant.

Check out this months issue of Car Audio and Electronics Magazine. There is an article on how to make a dummy face. I've done this a couple of times and it will work.

Its on page 88 under "Tricks Of The Trade"

Call up your insurance company, tell them about all of the aftermarket stuff you have in your truck, show receipts, and get it insured. I know it doesn't prevent it from getting stolen, but in case it does, you'll be glad you did it. I was told it only costs about an extra dollar or so per month. Of course it depends on how much your stereo is worth.

I did this one between 8 and 10 years ago

Believe me, it works

That's clever.

I, too, have always thought the best deterrent is the make your vehicle as unappealing as possible.

A little super glue, hot glue and a piece of ABS Plastic. It really was not that hard. The article in Car Audio and Electronics has a good method also, a little complicated but a really good way to do it.

This method works.
