Hey Gang,
I recently purchased a replacement antenna and my son (in all good faith and to be helpful) tried replacing it for me.
Yup... you guessed it... the string he used on the old cable while pulling out the old one broke! <VBG>
So, I'm stumped as to the inlet hole and gasket through the vent trough. I noticed the hole in the dashboard to the right of the defroster vents. Could I be so lucky as to have this supplied by the Ford engineers to sight down while bringing in a new antenna cable???
If not, does anyone know the exact location of this inlet hole??
BTW, when using the string method of replacing an old antenna I found that using Mason's Twine is the best. It's small diameter while being very strong.
Many thanks in advance... Mark

i dont understand what your asking? are you trying to run a new antenae cable? you might be able to get a good look if you flip down your glovebox.

Hey Pistons,
My problem is that even though I've flipped down the glovebox already, there's too much "stuff" there to see where the antenna cable inlet hole might be.
To the right on the defrost vent cover is a hole which is part of the cover (you can see it through the windshield).
I'm wondering if the hole's there to see where to feed the antenna cable through the fresh-air vent trough housing by way of the antenna mount on the right fender.

how about shining a light down the antenae hole and see if you can see it under the dash. ive never done what you are attempting so these are just ideas.

Hay (Again) Pistons,
Nope, I've already tried the flashlight trick <G>... tried an electrical fish-tape, too, to see if I could feel the hole through the antenna hole and keep on pushing it into the cabin. No go.
