anyone running 30x9.50x15 on a stock 2x4 ranger... wanted to lift my truck and put 31's on it but i think it will look fine stock with 30's on it and a camper shell ...either mounting them on the stock steel wheels or possibly getting some cragers...pics would be awesome
 
I know they will fit I just wanted to see what the 30's looked like compared to 31's because 31's on a 2wd with no lift look like balloons in the wheel wells
 
First off... I didn't know you drove a chunk of wood. I'd guess any tires you nail on the side would look ok. :tease:

But I suspect you mean you have a 4x2 (aka 2wd). A 2x4 is a chunk of wood.

It really depends on the year. 31" tires will probably not fit without rubbing on anything older than a 1998. With a 2" lift they will probably clear fine on most.

235/75/15 or 30x9.50x15 tires are usually the same tire with just a different size stamped on it. Sometimes the metric sized ones (235's) are a little cheaper. They will fit just fine stock and fill the wheelwells nicely.

You also have to consider what gears you have in the truck and what motor. If you have a 4-cyl and 3.08 gears, 31" tires are going to suck big time. Actually, 31" tires and 3.08 gears no matter what the engine will probably suck. 3.73 gears work out good for the 6-cyl motors and the 235's/30" tires.

As someone who works construction, it drives me nuts when someone starts talking about their truck and they say they have a 2x4. Makes me want to pick up a 2x4 and edumacate them.

Yeah I have a 2001 4x2 ranger that just got some 31's on it. What year is your truck?

I can throw a pic up here of mine if you want.

That's a 2001 with 31's. I thought it was stock but it actually has about 1" of lift.
 
I was looking for this exact question, I have a '92 4x2 and would like to put bigger tires on it . Will the 30's(235's) fit the same on a stock frame/body.
 
If the 92 is anything like the 85, I don't think they will fit without at least some trimming.

Yes. On stock rims, the 30's(235's) fit just fine on the 89-92 body style. Actually, from '89 on till the end of production, 235's fit just fine. It's only the first generations ('83-88) that there is the possible issue of rubbing on the front fenders because of the wheel arch design.

If the 92 is anything like the 85, I don't think they will fit without at least some trimming.

I have a 1996 Ranger 2WD with stock suspension. I'm running Goodyear Wrangler 235/75/15 on American Racing 15X8 rims. The tires are roughly 29 inches tall. They look big compared to the stock 14 inchers. I have a 4 cylinder with a 5 speed, so I had to change my rear gears. I went from a 7.5 axle with 3.45 gears to an 8.8 axle with 4.10 gears. I don't have any clearance or rubbing problems, but I don't take my Ranger off road either.

I feel like you guys are ignoring this part, which is the most important part of all. The fitment wont mean crap if you arent able to turn them faster than 25mph. For reference, my truck is a 1993 2wd, with 4.10 gears and 2" spacer lift in front.
