Just bought an 88 Regular Cab with the original bench seat. If it wasn't for the fact that the owner since 1990 was a big old boy and the driver's side is flattened I'd keep the bench. However, a guy I work with has a pair of primo '96 Mustang GT seats...how much trouble to install them.

Conventional one piece bench means you'd need to do do a little fabbing and get some seat brackets.

On another note, I was told by another member that SN95 Mustang seats aren't that well suited for a truck seat due to fact that in the Mustang your legs are meant to be more forward than in a truck.

Technically, anything IS workable, it's just a matter of how much headache it may cause and how much modification is needed.

Kinda sorta not really.

I suppose you could "mod" the firewall and dash farther ahead, or "mod" an standard cab into an extended cab, but that is by no means feasible for swapping in a set of seats. In a regular cab the profile of the seat back comes into play too, I have Explorer seats in mine and the angle vs the floor feels too flat and the headrest is against the back window. If I scoot farther ahead and sit like how I got in trouble for sitting when I was little it is tolerable for the short driving I do... but a winter coat gets annoying interfering with the steering wheel. All of this was a non-issue with a bench seat.

Lowback buckets without headrests or with skimpy headrests like the Mustang Halo style are supposed to work great. The SN95 seats I have seen in yards have removable headrests, so that might be an easy out. Get a set of bucket tracks, put your seats on them (should bolt on) and see what you think. Since you already have the seats and want to go to buckets (which will require tracks) you are out nothing but your time.

From his first post, I'm assuming he hasn't bought the Mustang seats yet, he just said he knew a guy who had a pair. By no means was I suggesting he use seating as an excuse to bust out a welder, just pointing out that if he had the inclination, he could expand his seat options.

Personally, I'm still a fan of getting what bolts in without a fight.

I missed the part about not actually having them.

If you know the guy fairly well and have the tracks on hand, shouldn't be a big deal to try one first though.

Personally I am gunning for a nice set of lowbacks out of a Eddie Bauer BII.

Thanks again

The seats are in our wash bay and he's trying to sell them. Personally I just want to find something that bolts right up in red/maroon. Been thinking about using 2 passenger 40s.
Appreciate all the knowledge ya'll bring to the table.

The brackets from a 60/40 will bolt to most ford seats and there is no issue with the floor pan.
If you use 2 40's the adjustments will be on the right side of both of them.
Not all seat tracks will fit in a reg cab. BII tracks will fit in some xcabs but the slider for the seat belt will need to be swapped as the BII is angled and the xcab is flat where it bolts to the floor pan.

Another newbie here. Is there a conventional one-piece bench that will replace the 60/40 in my '99 Ranger XLT?
Thanks
