New to TRS, but not to Rangers. I've owned 3 Rangers in the past:
1989 XLT, 2.9L V-6, 3.73, reg cab, long bed. Best 1/4 mi of 16.69 sec
1993 XLT 3.0L, SC
2001 Edge Plus, SC, 4.0L, 4x4
And had a Sonic Blue 2004 Lightning....I miss that truck...
I was a true blue Ford nut until my 2001 Explorer tranny went out (common issue) and didn't warranty it....bought a used Mountaineer tranny, and installed it myself and saved $3500 over what they wanted.

I retired from the USAF about 6 yrs ago....22yrs, 27 days. I've been a weldor since 1986, a vol FF/EMT-B for a couple of years in Texas, and recently graduated from the Colorado School of Trades Gunsmithing program (2013). My cardiologist recommended that I fully retire if I can, so I did :yahoo:

I am anxiously waiting for the 2019 Ranger....waiting sux !!!

Welcome to TRS~!

Thank you for your service...and good to see you have a wide variety of skills that you put to good use.

There are mixed feelings about the new Rangers...I'd drive one just because it is new and probably a step up from the original platform...but the old school crowd loves the older body style for whatever reason they were attracted to them...

I prefer the older body style, more out of familiarity than functionality. They were what I learned on and although there are probably obvious carry overs I would hope Ford has improved things like rust points and access to parts that wear out...

But I won't know that for sure until I either buy one or start seeing the complaints piling up...I understand that this Ranger is not a new vehicle produced for the first time so much of what we normally see should be worked out in terms of complaints...

But it will be manufactured here so there is bound to be some rough spots...

Anyway...welcome and enjoy...feel free to contribute your experience and I'm sure you will find quite a few former and current military members on here...:icon_thumby:

Drag raced your Ranger... that's cool.

Welcome.
