I really like my 1987 Bronco 2, but...... the front seal is leaking on my transmission. A transmisson shop said I might as well forget fixing my problem because of Ford mismatching the torqueconvertor/seal. And a new convertor and seals would only last around 15-20,ooo miles before it would go out again. Any ideas other then changing out to a 5 speed???

i've replaced the front seal in mine- and mine doesn't leak yet.. its been a couple years and way more than 15k miles.... got the seals at autozone, and changed them myself.
i've never heard this before...

might as well do the rear main and freeze plugs(with some rtv orange around them...blue gets too hard) but yea they are trying to screw your or someone got confused. the bellhousing/pump/case gasket deal is made into the bellhousing(i think, either that or the case) and u have to get machining done to replace it, but most the time that isnt the problem. and for your front seal to go back im betting your flywheel is cracked, your starter teeth are showing wear, and the spacer lip is cracked. the bellhousing rarely leaks

now would be a good time to buy the upgraded t/c(i used a 91 4.0 low stall when i had my a4ld) with the longer snout, and the sonnax spacer like geasemonkey said. the old style t/c's and spacer only has the lip of the spacer on the converter snout, which means the snout is only about 1/8" in there. they are cast iron too and always crack around the lip. the sonnax has a raised lip and is billet so u wont have to worry about it again

now if your spacer isnt cracked and the seal went out...i dunno that means something isnt alligned right. but take it apart, post pics and we will help u and u can go from there
