Anyone ever swapped the 6G72 mitsubishi motor into a ranger? (I.E. the 3000GT, Dodge stealth, and many others) Anyone know the outside dimensions? I was looking at it because its cheap to find the N/A one and from there its not that bad to get the stock twin turbo set up from a VR-4 or R/T:icon_hornsup:. Only problem i've seen so far is that most were tranverse motors, but i think the Mitsu Montero is a longitudinal motor. Any thoughts?

I think if i could mate up the montero(if long.) or Ram 50 or mighty max trans to the motor i would be fine

EDIT: HAHA Montero is Longitudinal. WIN

Any thoughts on this? I'm in the process of getting a 3000gt right now to pull the motor from, from there its basically JY parts. then gotta find the turbo setup

Got one... Dodge stealth R/T N/A for 650, split with a friend until the time comes to stuff the motor in the ranger. Gonna be sick

Interesting idea. Keep us updated!

the TT motors on those things are kramed mess of wires pipes hoses belts etc. idk how you will fit it at least not easily. and they are a bitch to work on. do anything you can/need to while its out. injectors, plugs, TIMING BELT, stuff like that cuz once its in you could pour a gallon of water ovr top and not see a drip for 20 mins lol but like i said idk how much space u have in ur ranger

They're in there tight when they're mounted transversely, I'm pretty sure it will be easier when its mounted longitudinally

ok then. im not hating i was just saying. i was looking at a 3000gt but i got a 300zx and the TT's are tighter than a frogs ass in a canadian winter.. post up some pics when ur done maybe a dyno sheet?

I'll try. unfortunately the seller backed out of the deal, so i'm on the hunt for another donor car.

if you have cash in hand, CL is your friend! lol also idk how it is with the stealth's/mitsu motors, but i know when i wanted to go from na to TT on my Z it was easier to just do the swap because the diffrent compression ratios and tuning and piping etc, so not sure how much research you did on it but something to consider before your in the hole..

I'm gonna pick up whatever DOHC i find cheap first. I've been browsing both the houston and austin CLs looking for deals, and luckily the dodge stealth is worth a lot less than the 3kgt

lol thats cuz they dont look as nice but who cares if ur goin for the motor. depending on milage, while its out you should probably plan on doing the timing belt. i was gonna get a stealth TT awd but it needed a timing belt, got it priced it was like 1200 mostly because of the lack of space in there

Yeah I'm looking at ones that have a timing belt issue, since if I'm pulling the motor its no big deal to change.

I'm digging the idea but it will probably be alot of work keep us posted...
