Vacation this week and I am starting the swap project. This will be fun. I'll take pictures. I won't be able to get it completely finished though as I still don't have one of the critical parts, the oil filter relocation kit. But I can get really close.

How about a quick run down on what you got and are putting in? Everyone loves pictures.

87 Ranger, 2.0 5-spd. Donor car is an 85 Merc grand Marquis. 5.0, AOD. Going to try and use as much as possible from the car. I think I have even figured out how to use that big-ass radiator. I think I may be able to use the steering column too and get rid of the floor shifter. If I can get my camera back from my daughter......

You need the filter relocation kit before you put the engine in. Once the engine's in, it'll be damn near impossible to install the block adapter and lines. All that needs to go on the engine before you put it in.

I was afraid of that. But it is possible to just pull the motor mount bolt and lift the engine for this? I hope.

Oh, and just in case anybody else thinks it may be a good idea to hold a part with your hand when you blast it with the pressure washer......let me assure you it is NOT. That BLEEPING hurts. Takes the hide right off.

ouch ****ing ouch!

Just get the Trans Dapt 90* relocation kit and you'll be fine. They are usually under 60 bux. Seems a shame to hold up the project for such a cheap and essential part.

Attatching the lines to the adaptor is much easier with the engine out, too.

Don't know if you've got this resolved, but I was able to take off mine and put it back on by unhooking the steering box and supporting it with a jack. Left the linkage from the steering wheel as well as the drag link attached. But no P/S lines attached yet. I was really surprised that I was able to get it back on. Beat unbolting the engine and pulling it back up tho, but sucks either way. All of my fittings were threaded (easy hooking up the lines), but I could see trying to clamp a rubber hose up in there might get a bit tricky. Oil pressure sender might get in the way...
