im trying to figure out where to put my amp in my '04 ext cab 4 door edge. I was thinking under a seat but am afraid of it getting wet, especially in the winter with snow. Another option was relocating the jack and such and putting it between the rear seats, but im not sure it i want to lose the cup holders(lol) or if i want it that exposed. I've been looking through some old threads but it wasnt really helping. What do you guys think? Where do you have your amps mounted in a "4" door truck? thanks

On the floor behind my seat with a amp rack. On the side of your box if you must. Or cover a chunk of mdf. Put it on the floor then put your amp to it. If you have more then 3/4" of water in your truck we need to have a talk.

You have kinda like a false floor with the amps underneath, correct? How high is it?

This is powering my speakers so no box(for now).

I was afraid of puddling with the vinyl floors from melting snow etc.

I dont think my amp will fit under a seat, theres not enough room between the rails but it might fit if i remove the plastic pieces.

So it looks like jack location or floor. id prefer floor because jack location would be more permanent(i think)

if ircc theres like a .5'' between the top of my amp and the bottom of everything, its only like 4.5'' high. i could still put my seats down correctly when i built it.

I think it would look better, and be out of the way if your planning on keeping the seats by relocating the jack and mounting it along that backwall. Im mounting my amp underneath the window and going to build a box for underneath it so later on i can put a sub or two in, im prolly going to incorporate cupholders into the box too. I just tossed my jack in my toolbox. you could also build a box to cover the amp if you mount it where the jack was and get some computer fans and wire them up to turn on with the amp, this way you have a way to suffienctly keep it cool while its enclosed so its not that obvious.

well i just went ahead and built a box to stick it in. its only about 5" tall and easily fits under an open jumper seat and is strong enough to step on, plus its really easy to return to stock, just take the box out! the top is hinged so i can access the adjustment knobs. Ill get some pics asap. Its not real pretty but it'll get the job done:headbang:

is there any airflow to it ? you dont want to overheat your amp :(

half of one side is completely open(airflow and wiring) and i plan on cutting a hole in the top and putting like a screen/grille there. if it comes down to it, ill pop a few computer fans in it. It didn't cost me anything to make so I'll give it a shot

i have a ext. cab 95 and i have my kicker amp mounted to my back wall. i have 3 12's in it and my box is just shallow enough so i could do this. but my amp also has a built in fan so i dont have to worrie baout air flow to it. just an idea
