American Crystal Sugar Company locks out it's workers

American Crystal Sugar Company locks out it's workers

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PLEASE Stand With the Sugar Workers, Your Support Will Be Appreciated..

For generations, the sugar beet industry has been the lifeblood of Northwest Minnesota’s Red River Valley.

Sugar workers have always stood shoulder to shoulder with American Crystal Sugar and farmers to protect and advance the sugar industry.

Together, the workers, company and growers have helped to build the local economy, support families, and made communities flourish.

Now, American Crystal has put all of this in jeopardy by locking out it's workers, due to Corporate Greediness.

PLEASE Sign our petition at the website link, below, telling CEO Dave Berg:
Don't turn your back on the community!

Prior to the American Crystal Sugar ockout, the Union's Highly Skilled Sugar Processing Technician Workers made net profits of over 3.1 billion dollars, during each of the last four years for the Company, before the Union Workers were locked out by the American Crystal Sugar Company..

As a result, Dave Berg, CEO for American Crystal Sugar, has increased his pay to over 2.4 million dollars, a year, at the Union Worker's Expense, while pretending to save the Company money..

The other upper management people, at American Crystal Sugar's Corporate Office, have aslo increased their yearly pay, at the Union Worker's Expense..

This Union lockout has cost the American Crystal Sugar Company many millions of dollars, due to many Rail Road cars full of unfit sugar being made, by non union, inexperienced workers, that did not meet specification standards for large industry customers, resulting in contracts being unfulfilled and lost..

American Crystal Sugar Company, is a co op owned by the farmers who grow the sugar beets for processing into sugar, that have been taking a loss on their beet crop payments, due to inefficient sugar processing by unskilled, non union workers..

Workday Minnesota coverage of the lockout at American Crystal Sugar.

More than 1,300 workers at American Crystal Sugar facilities in Minnesota, North Dakota and Iowa have been locked out of their jobs since Aug. 1. 2011.

They have helped make Crystal Sugar the largest and most profitable producer of sugar from beets in the United States, but the company is seeking to undercut their wages, benefits and job security.

PLEASE Call American Crystal Sugar to Stop the Lockout

CALL 1-218-236-4400 and tell American Crystal Sugar's CEO, Dave Berg not to turn his back on workers and the community.

Here are some talking points to use during your call:

- My name is ______ and I'd like to share consumer feedback about your company.

- As a consumer who cares about the way a company treats its workers, I was disappointed to hear that American Crystal Sugar has locked out its employees in the Midwest.

- You are a profitable, successful company, and there's no excuse to squeeze your workers so hard when they are just asking for a fair deal for themselves and their families.

- I urge you to immediately end the company's strike against your workers and meet with their union representatives to negotiate, in good faith, a fair and equitable collective bargaining agreement.

- Thank you.

Actually the union did kill off Hostess. You know how things go down when the teamsters actually bent over backwards and worked WITH the company to maintain the jobs. And the teamsters went to bat for the company and urged the bakers union to accept the deal offered. The bakers union felt they could hold out and pressure Hostess into digging even deeper into the wallets. Hostess warned them---work with us...or everyone looses.

We all know what happened next. When you get your news sources from "Union Friendly" supporters? It's tainted. Unions used to serve a purpose--now they are just sucking companies dry--and the members honestly do not gain much from it---unlike the union BOSSES that love the power play.....

S-

100% correct. Unions are what have been driving jobs out of this country. The other reason is Clinton's Free Trade agreement allowing free imports into the country. Bad news for any company out there, and the unions just shoved the rest of the business right out of existence as quickly as they open their mouths demanding more wages for already overpaid under-worked employees.

My company has made threats to open a plant down in Texas (major customers down there) that's non-union.
I recall representatives from Texas was trying to lure my old job (manufacturing) down there due to the 'no tax base'. The company turned them down to stay in New York-

That's still pretty far fetched.

I will give it to the rich that some of them didn't get rich by being lazy idiots (like their children likely will). Usually they will treat their employees well, knowing it is them who actually makes them money.

I was waiting for the "Black Helicopters" to start flying out. Look, it's not hardcore documented proof of anything--and it's speculation about the Illumanati that it even exists.

I think it's safe to say that you just lost a lot of possible support for your cause by going off the deep end. I'll stand by my old saying "Have you ever gotten a job from a poor man?" The rich people everyone seems to love to lambast as being greedy and all that junk? They are the ones that create the jobs and employee thousands of people. They take all the risk with new products and designs. One poor choice? And they could lose MILLIONS! But it's their money to loose---or earn!

Anyone that sits back and goes along the lines of "They already earn so much---they shouldn't NEED all that money, so we should take it from them". That person drunk so much of the kool aid it's not even funny. Sure they earned so much! But they also return a lot of $$ with R and D. New products and such-and they also FUND innovation and new start up companies by INVESTING!

It's just the feel good crapola that the OWS croud of idiots was spewing out. Let's steal from the rich bastards.....let's take down Wall Street!! Greedy Bastards....They don't need all that money and cars/toys.... I'm POOR and I demand MY fair share! It's all an excuse. Come up with a product, service, or something the general public needs, wants, and desires. Market it and find an investor backing. (probably one of those rich bastards you've spent years bashing....) And you'll be rich as well--and you'll have to fight off union thugs and other idiots that think just because YOU own it? You don't deserve it.

This is all going back to the entitlement mindset, and it's rotting this country from the inside out. There is no self reliance, There is no personal accounting, There's only ME ME ME ME ME ME ME...I WANT I WANT I WANT....

No no no, it's not about trying to rip them off or anything, it's about us, the employees, the ones doing the work, also being able to live a good lifestyle, not worrying about putting food on the table and clothes on our backs. It's part of giving back to the people that earned you the money.

If I make you $100 doing whatever, would you give me a dollar here or there? I'd return the favor.

We do these jobs because noone else can. The heat exchanger market is quite a niche. It takes about 2-3 years of experience to be able to completely build one, correctly, the first time. Now if you have 10 years in the trades already, then it'll just be easier. But to be exposed to all the variants and materials, takes that long. So now go build these in China, with poor quality materials and unskilled workers. See how many more refinery explosions there are.

Any of you guys ever actually worked union before?

We definitely are not underworked or lazy, in fact we work a hell of a lot of overtime, 1st and 2nd shift. We don't screw around on the job any more than any other place, and when the boss comes out he always catches us... WORKING.

We're not afraid of working non union, but in a way we are. We've all done it, but the company may then decide to F-- the workers. It's protection.

I will agree in some cases unions are out-dated and unnecessary, but in many they don't hurt anyone and serve to protect.

Locked out American Crystal Sugar worker plays guitar, harmonica, and sings his own songs about Corporate Greed and American Crystal Sugar locking out all of it's Union Workers, that have made this Company 3.1 Billion Dollars Profit, for each of the last four years, prior to the lockout..

While the American Crystal sugar CEO, Dave Berg gives himself a big pay raise increase, so he can get paid a whopping 2.44 Million Dollars, a year, at the expense of the Company's Farmer Owned Share Holders and Union Workers..

agpete139 thank you i was about to say that since he keeps posting that and then starts a new thread just for that purpose, yea i feel for you guys that lost your jobs but in all reality it is their money and their company and they can do whatever they want with it be it run it in to the ground or fire everyone and start fresh again to make more money then so be it, quit complaining and go find another job so you aren't broke and can pay bills, just be lucky you have that job on your resume now and you can find a job of that sort again.

509 Well said. You know the problem is these guys get with a union and get lazy. That's right I came right out and said you get DAMN lazy. You punch in punch out and float along through life with no dreams, goals, or desires. You never had the GUTS to be an entrepreneur and step out on your own. Now you cry because you have worked the same job for 10 or 15 years and now times and things have changed and someone took your security blanket away. Well guess what. That's life. Life is full of changes. So you have to sell the Winnebago and the Mastercraft and get used to working for less money. Or get some gumption....something union worker generally lack and start your own business. If you think it's so damn easy try it and let us know how you make out. I have been self employed all my working years so I can tell you it ain't easy but if you hit it right it can be very rewarding. Get off the pity pot as we have given you all the sympathy that you are gonna get.

I have red all the posts.....

the good points remind me of workers in the '50s &'60s who took pride....

the bad points remind me of CONGRESS.....who...if they were doing their jobs like the workers of the 50's & 60's.....neither the Companies nor the workers would be at each others throats....because proper Legislationwould be enacted instead of $$$$Lobbyist spreading their dung/bribes.

Also. concerning the rich CEOs....exactly how many $$$,$$$,$$$ does it take to make an owner happy.....No--I'm not talking about Obama's Spreading the Wealth....I'm talking about realizing that your dependable workers would like to make ends meet---when times are good...give bonuses to deserving workers & set up an account to store some profits to tide the Company over during the bad times/when times are bad---used the account to keep your valued employees afloat by maintaining their jobs by letting them repair worn equipment/etc. until the economy improves

I'm talking about what the Bible refers to as not witholding reasonable pay from the hireling...in other words...when the rich man's storehouses are filled---do a good deed and help the workers exist without them having to work themselves inot the grave and never being able to spend time with their families/or make ends meet without worrying from paycheck to check....

You know......"that do unto others as you would have them do unto you" stuff...

Studies have shown that there is enough wealth in this world that no one has to do without....not the Shieks with their gold toilets...or the little black kid in Africa that is 10 years old & weighs 30 pounds....nor the American who works so much to make ends meet that he doesn't realize that his little daughter that he last saw on that tricycle is now 13 years old.

Panama.... Truth Hurts, doesn't it... You have hit the nail on the head...!

Greg

I guess everyone here just figured out that I HATE unions, they are for the weak.

Watch.... My rep will disappear in a second or two..................:dunno:

I think it was a decent analogy: I earn you $100.00 would it hurt you to give me $ 1.00.

You've earned them $100.00 and they paid you at least $15-$25-$30++ an hour. Depending on your current contract. They give you that $ 1.00 and it normally breaks down to $ 40 for the week.... times by the amount of workers that are complaining....let's say the shop has 500 employees all crying for that dollar. 40.00 x 500= $20,000.00 a week. $ 1,040,000 a year. So that's a bit more then a MILLION a year out of the company profits. 1.04 million they could be spending on R&D.....etc...

But sense it's just a "Rich Bastard" that makes millions a year they shouldn't miss it?

This isn't Robin Hood and his Merry little group of misfits. The only thing you get with Redistribution of wealth? Is now everyone equally miserable.
