amd vs. Intel

intel or amd

I've heard both are better... I'm under the belief that they're pretty much equal but I'm gonna go intel cuz it's in my mac :icon_thumby:

As a pro geek I have to go with Intel.

rock solid. period.

4 years ago I was all about AMD as it was cheap and did what you expected. Now, Intel is just stable. Stable is crazy important in my job.

It goes back and forth. I've been with AMD for several years but after reading the reviews recently decided that Intel had the best offering in my price range. I had to spend a little more but I got the performance I was looking for.

I moved to AMD about five years ago...still using the same system...it's been stable and only issue I've had was the overheating due to dust (that I have since learned how to avoid)...it's a single processor that has all the power I need...for now...

But the recent AMD chips are apparently not as good as the current Intel so it does kinda go back and forth...

These discussions can be like the MAC/Windows ones that can easily turn into bragging wars...

I have to say AMD.

I am running the Phenom II X4 3.0GHz Black Edition and have it clocked to about 3.8GHz on air cooling. I have had zero problems with it. It is smoking fast and is very reliable.

I used to be in love with Intel and hated AMD. Now with technology as good as it is, both are very good processors. I don't like Intel now for 1 simple fact, they are WAY over priced. You can buy an AMD processor that will do the same, if not more, for a lot cheaper.

Check out what AMD did with there Phenom II X4. They clocked it to over 6.0GHz. Check out the video at the bottom.

this pretty much covers it. about 5 years ago I got a system w/ the AMD because the performance and price were just well beyond Intel. Last month I built me a new system, and it was intel that offered the best bang for the buck.

I tend to just go with who gives the best performance for my dollar. Currently my main system is an Intel quad as AMD had nothing that could touch it when I bought it and was priced decent. I also have a backup desktop which is an AMD dual core because they had the performance crown when I bought it. I'm 50/50 split with pc's in general at my house. I also have 1 AMD and 1 Intel laptop and one of each in old random crap lying around.

My vote is for AMD.

My desktop is an AMD Athalon 2500+ that has been overclocked to a 3200+ for over 6 years now with an aftermarket aluminum/copper heatsink and coolermaster quiet fan with zero problems.

i'm voting AMD, just had better luck with them.

Used AMD for years. No complaints, they work. :icon_thumby: Intel works fine, too.

Only really bad processor I've had was an IBM Cyrix a long time ago.

yeah this is like asking who makes the best set of gears. they are gears, they go in an axle, and they get you where you are going. A proccessor goes in a SYSTEM and makes the computer work. by the by I prefer motherboards with an intel chip set.

I have computers with both and the only difference I notice is that the amd's throw a lot more heat than the intel. Either seems to work ok for me.

I would go with intel but the labtop i am typing on right now has the celeron in with a 1 gig of ram and it is sluggish at times. I bought this one from jim.(thanks jim works great) I am buying a new hp and it has a amd in it so i will see if it is better. here are the specs of the new one. 250 hard drive,2 due core proccers,4 mega bites of ram that is expandle to 8. I hope to get it soon??? getting it for around 700.00 brand new with one year warrnty. later guys
