Or are there no grease points on the newer rangers? I went to do my 30000mi service over the weekend and i couldn't find a single grease point on the truck.

You are correct. There are none.

hey i changed the oil in a new mercedes the other day. It does not come with a dipstick for anything... you have to tell the comp to check it. Or if the owner wants it doen "the old fashioned way" you have to go to mercedes and buy a dipstick for the engine... it has the tube there, but has a rubber plug in the top of the tube :icon_thumby:

I don't think any rangers had grease fittings from the factory.

That's ridiculous. Then why does Ford include it in their maintenance schedule.

nope no grease fittings and about 60-80k ball joints go creak creak creak
Pffft, the ones on my previous Ranger and Sport Trac didn't last that long. Replaced on the 3/36 warranty.

Because they use the same maintenance schedule for all their vehicles, with a few exceptions listed. It will also tell you to change the cabin air filter, which Rangers and Explorers do not have. (That comes to mind because I changed the one in my wife's Taurus the other day. It's sort of a pain in the ass but I'm getting better at it. :annoyed: I also changed the one in my dad's Cadillac, which if I'm not careful might take as long as 30 seconds. :icon_thumby: )

Several of later model automobiles do not have dipsticks.:)shady

When I replaced my ball joints I got grease fittings. I went aftermarket so I would get them.

ha, the boots dont even have to break.... i am also a huge fan of lifetime fluids, why would anyone want a tranny dipstick??? :dunno:

My mom's old late 90's Isuzu Rodeo didn't have a tranny dipstick either. The fluid was a dealer change item, and it had to be pumped out and back in through a plug in the bottom. I went to change the tranny filter on a friends mid 90's Civic too. Guess what? It's not serviceable. If you want to change it, you have to tear the transmission down. I also spend a little more for lifetime parts just to get the grease fittings, the warranty is an added perk.
