alwaysFlOoReD's race truck

At the track again. I finally found the overheating problem;

The impeller was separated from the shaft.
Changed out the water pump this morning, its a lot easier without the rad and grill in the front. [emoji13]

Racing starts in about an hour.

Impeller clutch failed, as the shaft heats up it expands and grips the impeller better for full flow..........................reads like a chevy idea, lol.
Keep the semi-shiny side up and good luck today

Impeller clutch, who knew....
Thanks for the well wishes. Busted a shock mount, off to town for repair parts.

Bought some bolts and using the old shocks mounts that I never did get to taking off....phew. Then started looking and my shocks are 1.5" too long.....oops. Going to run it this way anyway.

Broke the battery strap, the battery bounced out and hit that fuel feed outlet and that busted, and popped one tire off the rim. My first DNF since the pic in my avatar taken ~5 years ago.

Pretty good record for 5 years.

A pretty decent result after ~5 years of regular floggings on race tracks around Alberta. Especially impressive for a "budget" built truck. I'm sure lots of high $$ trucks have been retired after 5 years.
Yours, not likely. The floggings will continue until morale improves. :icon_rofl:

Helluva record for 5 years. Glad you solved the overheating problem. Sorry to hear about the battery strap. How the heck did it pop the tire?

Thanks guys. As far as the tire pop, I imagine it went at the same time as the strap. This course I'm running is a lot rougher than what I built the truck for. I'm on a modified section of a course built for 4400, 4500, etc. I think its a seed for king of the hammers.

I'll update later with some video.

My wife took some vid with her I-phone but we can't figure out how to get it off her phone so my computer can see it. Any help welcome.

So I'm going to post some pics of stuff I did awhile back. First up is new brake lights. I welded on some brackets;

And with the LED lights. I paid $1.00 each for them at an auction house.;

I needed a mirror for rules. I took the metal piece out and welded it in. I was worried as it could be pot metal but it took a weld and is holding.

I was also told I needed a body so I refurbished the front clip and put it back on, also note the air filter. I'll come back to the filter later;

I cut out the center for weight reduction;

It sure made it easier to change out the water pump;

Back together;

I've always wanted to move the air filter out of the path of fying mud and water. It used to be right above the passenger tire and 1/2 the filter was useless pretty much right away. So here is my first attempt at figuring out how to route the filter in cab;

I used the inner rubber gasket from this;

and also this;

To eventually get to this;

And some bracing. some of it is hard to see.;

There is an air-raid filter on the other side.

A pic from the back, showing the new fire extinguisher. I will also be changing the battery strap to a mechanical tie down;

And at the track;

If you take a close look at the front strap on the passengers side tire, you will see how I tie down every wheel. I use a short 18" sling and run the 2" strap through it so that I can wrap the strap to the backside of the tire. The sling stays on the front. This saves me from crawling under the truck to attach chains or straps. There is a strap on every tire. The slings cost about $5.00 each. I got this idea from seeing a tow truck do the same.

Try a google search for 'k-lite codec pack'. iphone records video in .mov, so installing that will let your computer play it.

As to how to find it, I'm not sure. You will probably need to use iTunes to pull it off the phone, I use android phones exclusively.
