Hey there, the alternator and battery on my 2000 xlt is dead, and instead of paying a lot of money from a shop, i was gunna buy a new alternator off of a parts truck, but the ranger parts truck is a 1994 5 speed, 3.0L, so I was just wondering if the alternator from that 1994 would fit in my 2000

Have you checked out the "how to tech" articles about alternator sizes and upgrades? Follow the link at the top of the page.

I also agree with RonD. Do some troubleshooting to make sure you know what is really wrong before throwing a bunch of money around.

You can buy a new one on ebay for around $70 bucks with shipping.
