i have a 84 tbird motor in a 90 2wd ranger
just got it running yesterday
the last thing i have to do is wire the older 3 wire alt to the newer style plug
from the alt i need to go to a external regulator
i nto the old harness
the alt has large black with orange stripe
small orange with blue stripe
small white with black stripe

the stock ranger harness has more wires no regulator(internal)
seems like 2 wires put out power to dist box?
do i need both or is one for old ecu?
will any regulator work or do i need a specific one

I wish i could help you out. I had a 1 wire altenator made for my truck. This guy in Muncie, In makes them for 80.00.
