My '85 Ranger is cross bred with an 88 bronco 2 in that the interior is all bronco, ie power door locks, windows cruise control seats etc. The extra drain on the electrical sys is compounded by my bi-amp audio system and i'm lookin to upgrade my alternator but ford doesnt offer a heavy duty alt for my year. The stock 40 amp aint cuttin it I bought a 140 amp hd powermaster alt but the electrical connections are different and i dont know enough about the electrical sys to adapt it. does anyone know a swap or mod to solve my low power issues?

They make an 80 amp alternator for it. Have you tried that?

my ford dealer says...

Every Ford parts guy I've talked to tells me that they only made the 40amp alternator for my year, and the 60 amp listed is for a deisel. Do you happen to have a manufacturer name or part number for the 80 amp you speak of?
