Okay my old alt. died on my 2.9 so i think to myself easy fix just swap it with a new one.. i got the new one in.. but i cant get the damn pulley off the old alt. for the life of me.. anyone know something i dont is there a secret to getting these off?

Thanks Syko.

I've never had a problem, just hit it with an inpact wrench. They are usually quite tight.

take both of your alternators to a local repair shop and ask them to switch the pulley for you. that is what i did a few yrs ago to mine. they even did it for free!!!

I was thinking about doing that .. But walking into town with 2 alternators doesnt sound like fun lol.

impact works wonders, wrapping a old belt around the pulley may help. if you're just trying to get the pulley off and the rest of the alt is junk just rip the back of the case off and clamp the rotor in a vice, I had to do that once.
