+1 ^^^
There are two wires from alternator to Power distribution
Black/orange stripe wire is the larger one connected to B+ stud on the back of the alternator
It runs to the Starter Relay(solenoid) on the inner fender, is has an In Line Fuse, called a fusible link, it connects to the same post the Battery Positive cable is connected to on the Starter Relay
Fusible Link is a 12guage Grey wire
Alternator B+ post-------(black/orange wire)-----------Fusible link---------(grey wire)------Starter relay post
So don't look for a Black/orange wire on starter relay post, it will be a Grey wire
On the same post of the starter relay there will be a Red wire that runs to the 60amp fuse in engine fuse box, thats the main power distribution wire for all fuses/power in the truck
A Fusible Link is a "slow blow" fuse, if too many AMPs pass thru this wire it will separate like a fuse does, but it can stand a bit of high AMPs and not separate.

The color is not standardized, if you need to replace this then use a 12GA, 12 gauge, replacement
On the alternators 3 wire connector is a Yellow/white stripe wire, it runs to a fuse in the engine fuse box, 15amp ALT fuse
Use a volt meter to test Yellow wire, it should have 12volts all the time, if not check that fuse
The Light Green wire on the 3 wire connector is the ON/OFF switch for the alternator, it comes from the Battery Light in the dash, it should have 12volts only when Key is ON, this 12v turns on the alternator
