Alternatives to coffee?


If you drink Mt. Dew, you need Iodine supplements. Mt. Dew has Brominated Vegitable oil, among other harmful chemicals, that mimics iodine and gets aborbed in it's place which supresses thyroid function.

Long after consumption of BVO in test animals, traces remain in the body fat.[citation needed] Bromine is a halogen and displaces iodine, which may depress thyroid function. Evidence for this has been extrapolated from pre-1975 cases where bromine-containing sedatives resulted in emergency room visits[1] and incorrect diagnoses of psychosis and brain damage due to side effects such as depression, memory loss, hallucinations, violent tendencies, seizures, cerebral atrophy, acute irritability, tremors, ataxia, confusion, loss of peripheral vision, slurred speech, stupor, tendon reflex changes, photophobia due to enlarged pupils, and extensor plantar responses.[2] In one case, a man who drank eight liters of Ruby Red Squirt daily had a reaction that caused his skin color to turn red and produced lesions diagnosed as bromoderma. The excessive quantities together with the fact that the man had a higher than normal sensitivity to bromine, made this an unusual case.[3] A similar case reported that a man who consumed two to four liters of a cola containing BVO on a daily basis experienced memory loss, tremors, fatigue, loss of muscle coordination, headache, ptosis of the right eyelid as well as elevated serum chloride.[4] In the two months it took to correctly diagnose the problem the patient also lost the ability to walk. Luckily bromism was finally diagnosed and hemodialysis was prescribed which resulted in a reversal of the disorder.[1] A Pepsi product website notes that BVO has been used by the soft drink industry since 1931.[5]

In test animals, BVO consumption has caused damage to the heart and kidneys in addition to increasing fat deposits in these organs. In extreme cases BVO has caused testicular damage, stunted growth and produced lethargy and fatigue.[6]

I have half of these symtoms and drink 4-6 Dews a day. switching to something different tommorrow.
 
I've read a lot of those same things, but having the real doctor tell me was different somehow.

That and I can't afford that shit anymore either, prices just jumped big time for sodas! Saving my family a lot of money just by my quiting, my wife quit the Pepper to.

I'm examining my diet to see what other HUGE impactors I have.

You can distill coffee. It's called espresso.

Though it's not conventional, you can use a light roast if you want more caffeine, as well. Kona is notorious for that, but bloody expensive if you don't live in Captain Cook.

I've had espresso before... I thought the "sludge" I was concocting was a bit more potent (brew the same pot of coffee through the grounds 3-5 times before distilling it down).:icon_twisted:
 
Eh, there is a fine line between "potent" and "nasty." :bad:

Though straight espresso is definitely an acquired taste.
 
I agree with the sleep thing, I do feel 100% better when I get the full 8 hours. Most of the time I don't have the time though (kids will do that to you)

It's not really that I have a lack of energy, once I going around 9 AM I'm good for the rest of the day. It's just that first part of the morning between 6 and 9. You know how it is - you work at 7 and have to get SOMETHING accomplished in those two hours...

Pop is out man. I literally haven't had more than a couple cans of sugary pop in the last few years. I have a couple diet sodas a week but that's about it. I used to drink a ton of Fanta orange but they don't have it 2/$2 at the gas stations anymore, and it's horrible for you.
 
Sex in the morning will put you back to sleep, dont try that......

Try waking up early and eating toast then jogging, very good for you and it'll wake ya up, especially in the cold winters!
 
have a glass of water and do a few push ups and sit ups might do it for you.. if you're into that kind of thing
