So i have an 83 ranger with the 2.3L and i need a new camshaft as the lobes on mine are worn and i having trouble finding one does anybody know if i could use a different cam for the 2.3 like one for a pinto or something like that

you are having a hard time finding a lima camshaft?

should be some on ebay even used for under 100 shipped.

If you can find a '88-94ish 2.3L to steal the cam, lash adjusters (might not be necessary) and followers you can convert to a roller cam and be better off in general, but yeah, what Bobby said...

thanks ill try and find some parts also do i have to worry about the valves or valve springs with this conversion or no

Nope, direct drop in I believe assuming your engine had stock hydraulic lash adjusters, I don't know anything about the manual adjusters that came on some '83's from what I've heard... I mean you could probably put them on the roller cam too, the lash adjusters were the same between the two styles now that I'm remembering...
